I was there Friday and for a short while on Saturday. The place really did turn out very nicely. Small crowd there both nights, but I can see that changing very soon. Really liked the vibe there. To note, the Centaur and Townpump were both PACKED on Friday. |

I was there Friday, had a great time. I have no clue how much the drinks were, as I swindled my boyfriend into paying for all of mine. The place looks great on the inside. The owners worked really hard on it, they should be proud of themselves. I am looking forward to going back. |

I took a couple of friends there last night. Had a great time. The beer seemed a little expensive, but overall it was a terrific experience. If you haven't gone yet, make the time to do so this weekend. On a side note, I'm not sure how I feel about those little table extension things at the bar. I haven't sat at one yet, but it seems like a cross between cool little novelty and something that could get in the way. |

I was there Wednesday afternoon. Not sure about the table extension either. With a date they could be fun. The original decor is very cool! the ceilings are great! The big thing I am not sure about though is the green walls and wallpaper. The shade seems more reminiscent of the turn of the century and not the 20's and 30's. |

I was there Wed. afternoon and I was the only patron there. It was nice to learn that they are working on kitchen renovations right now and will have a food menu as well as a drink menu soon. I am not certain how well the blues/jazz entertainment will play out in the end with several other bars in the area having similar offerings. Overall, I liked it and I liked the little tables at the bar but I hope that they will be fine when the place becomes fairly crowded. I didn't like the floor though, it almost felt unfinished but I know that is just my individual opinion. |

i was there friday night - gorgeous ceilings. it felt like a real speakeasy, which was pretty cool. good crowd, but they need better signage outside to attract people who don't regularly read DetroitYes. had decent beer on tap (but no oberon, which was a bummer) and a good liquor selection (tullamore dew is always appreciated!) good location near comerica park and ford field. the servers were all nice and the jazz/blues music was not overdone - i hope they do well! |

Stopped by after FSC night last Thursday...I actually like it a lot. I think it helps that the owner has experience with another bar. And I think the blues/jazz will kick ass. In downtown proper it's really just Buzz, the Rhino and the Jazz Loft...and this is a very different enivoronment than those. And Yes very nice work Michael and thanks for explaining some of the details to me. JStone...long time no run into. Been to Cyprus lately? |

Thank you J_stone and thank you Harmonie. However, I can not take credit for the inside of Cliff Bell's. I only worked on the facade, the round column and the windows. The rest of the work I did on that building was some of the guts and bones of the structure. All of the interior restoration work was done by the crew running the business. That building consumed a greater portion of my life from September upto the Superbowl and even a good while afterwards. The building owners and the business owners(two separate entities) are the people we should be congratulating and thanking. They had the courage, vision and energy needed to tackle such a project and they also put their money where their mouths were. |
