Hope fades for Tiger Stadium At 11th hour, banker seeks to save landmark, but Detroit official says he may be too late. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pb cs.dll/article?AID=/20060410/M ETRO/604100375 After reading this story, I'm thinking the chances of turning the stadium into a Wal-Mart or convention center like this guy is proposing seem slim at best. Which makes me think the Corktown plan of tearing down most of the stadium, preserving the field and a few seats for a park, and building up a mixed use of commercial and residential development around the field seem more likely. But that's just my educated guess. |

Before, I was all for saving the stadium and putting a good use to it. Nowadays, I'd be happy to see someone clean the outside. Have them gut the place out, show the demo on TV and have week-long specials (a la Hudson) and let's keep moving. |
