OK, I know how to get from Corktown to Mexicantown in a car, but I would like to walk from one neighborhood to the other. Between the railroad tracks and the freeway, I'm not sure what's the best route to take. Can someone who is more familiar with the area help me out here? |

look here: http://maps.google.com/ while you read my post. Your best bet is to walk west out of Corktown on Bagley. Bagley is the main street of Mexican Village. Unfortunately, I-75 split it in half. To get to the western half of the area, and to get to West Vernor (The more important street now), go one block north of Bagley and hang a left, going west on Vernor. Is that clear? Sometime soon, the east and west halves of Mexican Village will be connected with a pedestrian bridge across I-75. |

I would take Rosa Parks to Bagley, right on Bagley. stop at the Honey Bee or mexican Village Restaurant for a Tecate or Sangria... Todays Freep http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll /article?AID=/20060411/NEWS01/ 604110402/1003/NEWS continue walking down Bagley pass the Community Center , the Matrix theater, and the new construction of the Welcome Center/Mall to the freeway and then go to Vernor across freeway(I-75) straight to Mexicantown |

What? again? I remember the last time they planned that bridge, the plan called for demo of the Los Galanes bldg.. Good idea, anyway. Meanwhile, 1 block north, you can cross I75 at Vernor. |
