There's nothing new about that practice, which has been going on for thousands of years. |

yeah but I am trying to reach that elusive 2000 mark quickly. Stucco sucks ass. Seems like they are using those premade brick panels an awful lot as well. |

Easy Gumby. jjaba only rewards centurians. Gumby is now on jjaba's list of fake posts. One more faux pas and your century mark be 2,500. Great shot Andrew. The abbreviated name is our first clue of building on the cheap. jjaba |

What happens in Newada stays in Nevada. Ray1936, you live in a snout house, too dangerous to live in, because of the hidden front door where lurkers can wait for your ass and knock you upside the head. As for the stucco/Californication. You can have it. Send it back to LA Basin. jjaba, LOL at Ray1936. |

Aiw, I take this "false fronting" any day over what is constructed today. Architects don't even bother to do false facing, anymore, in a lot of case. Cost won out over looks long ago. |

That narrow entrance way to the front door merely helps my aim. If I miss, the ricochet is liable to do the job. I do miss the nice face brick homes of metro Detroit. But I don't miss those dank basements one bit. |

Oh jjaba remembers, Ray1936 learned early how to pull the trigger on his Detroit Times route. He could lay a paper down from 30 feet in the same spot every time. (And not once did he put a paper on Mrs. Sarkozy's flowers.) In nasty weather, he "doored 'em". Remember that? jjaba, Westside Memories. |

Oh, yeah, I sure do. I did hate nasty weather for that reason. However, I think I disliked the cold much more than the rain. Still do. |

Nevada weather stays in Nevada. You can have it. Dusty, hotter than hell, and drier than an AA meeting. It feels inhospitable. jjaba, on the Northwest side. |

Jjaba, if you ever happen to be out this way, let me know. I'll fire up the Dexter bus and show you the real Nevada. Gas and meals are on me. Bring your own film. No, we won't be anywhere near the Strip. That's for suckers. Boy, we sure hijacked Andy's PDJ, ay? |

Ray1936, alomst 500 posts already. Time flies when you're having fun. Never mind the Canadian, eh. He loves us. jjaba goes on the Strip for Lindy's and other Jewish Delis. He likes the Neon monuments on Fremont St., but you can shove "The Fremont St. Experience" right up your Hoover Dam. All Detroiters take note, don't go to Las Vegas after June 1st. It's hotter than a cat on a hot tin roof. Except for summer, call Ray1936. He knows the spots. They even gotta a decent one-block Chinatown with nice shops and restaurants. The Hong Kong tour buses love the place. And the Hoover Dam, Oy! And Ray, the newsboys don't have to door 'em. jjaba on the Dexter Through turning onto the Blvd. |
