There is a scene in Scary Movie 4 where it shows Detroit before the alien attacks and it is burning and there is chaos, and then during the alien attacks there is still burning and chaos but with aliens. It was kind of funny. maybe a little harsh to the more sensitive.

I'm telling you, us Detroiters don't have to worry about nuclear war or terrorists, they'd pass us by thinking we'd already been hit. Aliens on the other hand are totally merciless! :-)

Detroit is always good for a cheap laugh. We're like the runt in the family that always gets picked on.
Let's look foward to the day when the laughing (at Detroit's expense) stops.

Or how about in Robocop... they needed a city that looked destroyed and... Detroit fit the bill without any major modifications! That's a blow! It's okay... watching those pathetic scenes shot in Detroit for Beverly Hills Cop makes you realize how things have started to turn around since then... I was only three when that movie was out but watching it now, and comparing it to the city I experience on a daily basis at 25 keeps my view pretty positive!

Eva Longoria took a jab at Detroit recently during some interview. The interviewer asked her if she would move with Tony Parker should he get traded in the future, and she said:

"We've already talked about this, if he gets traded I'm going with him. I just tell him please don't get traded to a place like Cleveland...or Detroit!"

Robocop was shot in Dallas.

It was SET in Detroit in the storyline, though.

Welcome to the forum, though, Nickstone.

Now when they needed a futuristic torn-up Los Angeles city...they shot the city scenes of the Island here. We have much proof of that here in our archives.

quote:

RoboCop was filmed mostly in Dallas, because director Verhoeven felt it had the "most futuristic skyscrapers in the world". For similar reasons, RoboCop2 was filmed mostly in Houston. Here "we were able to take advantage of the ideal combination of heavy industry and a futuristic skyline" said producer Jon Davison. Finally, RoboCop 3, wich required the setting of a city with a more historical look and feel to it, was shot mostly in Atlanta. Unlike the futuristic-looking cities used in the first two movies, "Atlanta still has its old city left" said RoboCop3 producer Patrick Crowley.

From a website dedicated to this movie series...although I didn't even remember there were sequels. I don't do many sequels...unless, of course, they have Rene Russo in 'em.

Heh. Didn't the creators of Scary Movie 4 watch the Jimmy Kimmel show? Don't they know what happens when you knock Detroit? ...we make you apologize.

I'm surprised that no one's mentions this little gem yet:
