When I was out shooting pics last week, I got some great shots from a parking garage. I noticed that beyond Woodward looking west and it is a ghost town. You see the street level all lite up and then look above and you see the forgotten Detroit. It really sucks how dim the skyline is over Woodward and how many vacant buildings there are. It's great to see construction, but what do we do with all the skeletons in the same view as the newer structures?

All good things come in time. I remember in the mid nineties they didn't bother lighting the Penobscot Building (I'd like to think they started when I send them a letter with a photoshop rendering of the building lit up at night...coincidentally they started lighting it about 2 months after I sent the letter...I am a genius ;P ) ANYWAY...now they are lighting the david stott tower. The two taller buildings you see in this photo are currently or will soon be inhabited by businesses (the Book Tower) and condos (Broderick). I bet the book tower will be lit soon. And the broderick as soon as it's done. I repeat...all good things come in time. Maybe I should do a night version of the book cadillac lit up? Hmmmmm. -Quinnly. |

if you look at the west side of downtown on google earth.. ESPECIALLY the northwest side... its basically nothing but greenspace (empty lots). Theres nothing to light in the middle of a field. |

I heard the Book got the rest of its funding this week. Not sure if that's true. |

Is that the top of Compuware's parking garage? If it is, then I have been up there before, and it offers a nice view of certian parts of downtown. |

Hey Tetsua how is that right aid doing in your building? That's always been a favourite (your building) of mine... BTW: sure I'll do night views lit up when I get a chance... |

The Rite Aid is doing pretty well from what I can tell, I give them steady business anyways. There always seem to be ... interesting ... characters in there though. |

When the stores in Downtown Detroit closes after 7:00pm. The Ghost town begins. It's been like that ever since Coleman Young days. |
