Does anyone have a pic of what lies behind the nasty siding from the 60s/70s?
It seems like broadway is screaming for this sididng to come down.

It's more modern so of course it's an improvement! "Sleek" metal is always more cosmopolitan than intricately carved stone!

that picture above could have come right out of a 1955 "modernize main street" ad for US Steel.
They really pushed that sort of thing, more so for small towns. The things people thought were good...............

Apparently, some people thought it looked good. Are any of those people still around? I have never met a single person that prefers the metal siding over the stone work. Was this a result of temporary mass delusions?
