That was a hot item for about 2 days a while back. Is there still hope Greely would consider Detroit for their North American HQ. Why not offer them the site that Rock does not take? I would assume Greeley would be interested in the Statler site for sure as they could build large enough for the Greely sign to be seen from Comerica.....very enticing if you ask me. Although, that is just be thinking out loud….or what about Google, or have they been confirmed for Grand Rapids? |

I thought Geely was talking about starting a small North American HQ starting off with only 50 employees, so I do not think its going to be a big development in size but it is a great addition to Detroit. |

ah, I see, well hopefully we could squeeze them somewhere downtown, there is room in every building...although, who knows, they could grow to be pretty large if they play their cards right, such a pay attention to emmissions and build small....one can dream |

My gut tells me that if Geely comes to Detroit, it's coming to the burbs. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to see them move out to Livingston County before they came downtown. |

It's Geely on greely . They will probably end up in the Ann Arbor area. Why Ann Arbor? Ann Arbor has the EPA emission testing labs. They're going to have to run a ton of vehicles though there before launch. They'll want their engineers nearby to deal with the testing. They will also want a small test track nearby. There isn't anywhere to stick a test track in the CBD. |

I'd think any new HQ would likely have R&D space so you can forget about downtown. TechTown would be the most viable option in the city |

Anywhere but Livingston. I have the pleasure of living there. I don't think you can get any more suburban! |

AA is more logical than Detroit for Geely, but AA's not a shoo-in either. Toyota has one of its two US R&D facities in AA, but essentially nothing else of Toyota's numerous US facities are even in Michigan. Geely dropped a bit of a mention that it might have a Detroit presense, and many here are going gaga as if it's a done deal. |
