Very nice tribute!
I was amazed to read he was the first officer shot and killed in the history of Windsor police. Just across the river and such a differance.

Live2dog. Do you troll for the purpose of getting off? What do black people have to do with crime? Wouldn't or shouldn't you say that poverty and hopelessless breeds crime (most of the time) and not someones ethnicity?

Back to the thread...

The city is expecting 10,000 for Con. Atkinson's funeral; The largest in the city's history.

The picture of the punk is nothing but a white kid who thought he was tough. He weighs about a $1.50 soaking wet and with sand in his pockets, pasty skin little weasel. Nothing but a loser with a loser intent on life.

He was known to the police for prior problems though the police would not elaborate on his past activities.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the two young men responsible for this crime were white. I believe I saw them being handcuffed and taken away as part of this story on Channel 7's evening news last night. So, while you (Livedog2, and your Canadian friends) are certainly entitled to your opinion, bringing racism to this tragedy just adds insult to injury and serves no purpose, as is usually the case.

She must not have raised a fool but she sure as hell raised a bigot!
BTW: As a matter of fact, poor people EVERYWHERE do resort to crime. Not ALL poor people do regardless of skin colour.

Very nice tribute, Andrew. It sounds like this will be the biggest funeral Windsor has ever seen. The procession route will be lined with thousands of people.

It should be something else.

They figured about 5000 showed up last night for the vigil, and they are expecting 10,000+ for the funeral.

Wonderful tribute Andrew. Keep us posted. This is a huge blow for Windsor, such a peaceful respite so close to Detroit.

In honor of your fallen hero, jjaba sends a prize to anybody other than Canadians who can give us the slang for the One Dollar and Two Dollar Canadian coins. First one posting wins.

In an all-time turnaround, the CN Dollar is now worth 90 cents, American.

Andrew, are they flocking to Oaklnad Mall for American schitt now? What's hot for you and the neighbors in US goods?

jjaba, saddened by it all.

There was a write-up in the Windsor Star recently about the lives of the two accused. Both were from totally messed up families. Kinda sad but obviously not an excuse.

Goat and Livedog, enough already.

The dialogue is never reduced to personal attacks. Make your cases, and move on.

This thread about a tragic murder and a thoughtful photo montage, enough already.

Thanks Livedog2. jjaba had something to say about your comments but with the vitriol, he can't.

That's what happens when labels and libels start getting tossed.

Just curious, is the a Livedog1?

Thanks again, jjaba.

Yes, Jjaba there is a Livedog1. He resides in Vancouver or more correctly Boston Bar, B.C. We were in the Marine Corps stationed at Kaneohe, Hawaii and got orders for Vietnam in 1967. He went “over the hill” to Canada and I went to Tay Ninh by way of Chu Lai. The joke was twofold we were both born under the sign of Leo the Lion and we both read the bible.

From Ecclesiastes 9:4 it said, “Anyone who is among the living has hope -- even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!” Since we both made it through that war in our own ways the names and joke have stuck and forever more he is Livedog1 and I am Livedog2.

Our friendship has stood the test of time. When he applied for amnesty under Jimmy Carter’s Amnesty Plan I traveled with him from Vancouver to Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego where he applied for amnesty.

Wonderful, touching story, Livedog.
Comrades forever.

Some Jews call each other Chaver. We don't use our own names, just calling out Chaver. It means the same as Livedog.

Thanks for those comments and others you've spoken on the Forum.

The Fraser River runs right through it into the Lower Thompson. And you are right Douglasm it is beautiful country. We use to move all around that area up in B.C. Livedog1 lived in Vancouver, Pemberton, Whistler, Chilliwack and a few other places that escape me at the moment. We spent a lot of time with many of the First Nations of British Columbia on the reserves of the Stl'atl'imx, Kwakawaka'wakw and the Secwepemc peoples doing work with them.

Those were interesting times, Motorcitymayor2026 and scary times, too! But, I have friendships that have spanned that whole time period up till the present. The only regret I have is that we left our good friends over there in the hands of very ruthless ideologues that dealt with them in such terribly ways.
