"Kilpatrick, who said he spent a lot of time with civil rights icon Rosa Parks as a child"

Ohhh boy... I think he might be channelling Dubya with that one.

So he's not even allowed to visit his alma mater and give a speach as a guest speaker, which I imagine he was invited to give?

fentanyl is a great pain killer, much more potent than morphine. problem with fentanyl is that when used as a patch it can take a week or more to ease pain. in overdoses, it can stop you from breathing.

Mike, I'm not sure what that has to do with Kwame's speech in Florida. Unless the audience took fentanyl just to endure it.

I think Mike intended to post his comments on the Rash of Overdoses thread.

Although, the speech could have been boring....

lol, every time this man leaves his city for vacation or otherwise he always has his detractors. My cities mayor was crucified for an trip to South Korea, recently, and the governor for her trips. You'll always have people complaining, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't with some people. I guess it comes with the territory.

This really isn't an issue about this particular mayor, to me. It sounds like your typical sour-grape gadlfies, whoever the leader may be anywhere in this country, who will fault a leader whatever they do, or don't do. If he's gone, he shouldn't be gone. If he's at home working, he should be working harder. If he's being forceful, he being too forceful, and if he takes a more measured approach, he's not being forceful enough, and so on and so on.

Since I started this and I live in Tallahassee, let me shed some light on why I posted it. First, to see what reaction would occur, which has been delightful and diverse, to say the least.

Secondly though is the fact that he is a alum of FAMU. Old, well established Africian American University, many well known Alum. However they have a histoy of financial instability due to neoptism, poor financial skills and just plain screwing up. Within the last several years they have been called to task by the Governor's office, the legislature and their alumni. To say the "Good ole boy" syndrome is alive and well at FAMU in an understatement.

Tell me, where have y'all seen the same problems?????

The Rattlers only finished 6 and 5 last season and maybe the Mayor is down there to give inspiration to his team.
And I agree that it is an honor to be asked to speak at one's alma mater.

It is most certainly an issue because:

Kilpatrick has been previously shown to have severely abused city credit card charges ($212,000+).

Kilpatrick has previously stated that taxpayers would not foot the bill for any of his trips, and that claim has later been shown to be erroneous (Africa).

Kilpatrick has traveled with at least 2 bodyguards (of highly questionable qualifications), costing taxpayers additional money.

Kilpatrick has previously promised (during the campaign) not to travel (Africa, Cleveland, Florida).

Kilpatrick's trips are not related to conducting city business.

Yuck indeed!

It's only an issue for wanna-think they're (wannabe) in control, white-supremacists.; like the poster above.

Kudos to the Mayor for addressing his fellow graduates at FAM-U (note: that's FAM like in Family!!!!) Mehopes it was on the City's dime too; since there are many (deemed SUCCESSFUL FUBU) FAM-U grads/alums in Detroit.

HAH! KING KWAME is problably cruising around in the ghettos of Detroit in the Red Lincoln Navigator along with his Y.B.I. bodyguards, listening to Puff Daddy in the C.D. rolling those silver spinners while driving.

Of course the likes of Rasputin advocates Kilpatrick's travels "on the city's dime" because Rasputin has previously bragged about his tax evasion on this forum, so of course city finances aren't an issue for him.

I would ask you to prove this as well. But, then again, why would you? You'll just come back with another childish insult hurled in my direction.

I guess that's what you resort to when you have no facts to back up your claims. A purely Michigan Citizen tactic.
