And when you are in Cincy after a hearing in the Federal Court of Appeals, you HAVE to have lunch at the Maisonette. That's the landmark restaurant in the town. The Rock is right. The Maisonette is a fine establishment, one that still even allow lawyers from Federal Court to patronize. Hey, the lawyers just ring up billible hours on the job. 160K is nothing to Eastpoint, it is a pittance. They might have just decided to pay the 160K to avoid several more years of legal fees that would cost more than 160K. Cities make settlements not because they are guilty or innocent, but because it is in their best financial interests to do so. Danny--get off of the "Hitlerland" short bus for a while. Black families are moving into Livonia, mostly in the Compton village sub--5 mile/middlebelt, as well as other neighborhoods in east Livonia, and unlike 35 years ago in Detroit, there is no mass exodus of honkys. If you want to really hate a community, why not start in Livingston county. That is where the honkys who don't want to live around "those people" are relocating to. | ||

The settlement amount does seem a little low. Maybe it reflects a lack of greed on the part of the plaintiffs. Hopefully the message has been received by the police department and the residents for that matter. Eastpointe is changing. It will be interesting to see whether the traditional white flight pattern of declining property values and a retail exodus occurs, or if the city can thrive as a diverse place. | ||

56packman, I've seen the demographics of the Compton Village at Hitlerland Livonia's north side before. It's already becomming a small black ghetto in about 10 years or so. They are going to make Compton Village into a own personal Compton city like the one just south of L.A. But the white folks over there won't mind except for the racist Hitlerland Livonia KKKops! They sometimes patrol they area for any suspicious activies. Not only in Compton Village apts. but in other parts the norther borders of the neighborhoods Livonia/Redford TWP. area where over 10% of black-folks are beginning to occupy some of the homes there even through the black population in Livonia is now 1.1% | ||

Also from this article, related to race but not Eastpointe, is this little diddy: "HARRISON TOWNSHIP: Deputies seeking info on sex assault suspect Sheriff's deputies said they want help finding a man who sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint outside a Harrison Township apartment Monday. Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said the attack happened about 11 p.m. as the 36-year-old Roseville woman was leaving a friend's home at the Brittany Park Apartments, off Shook Road near I-94. The attacker -- described as more than 6 feet tall with a heavy build -- forced his way into the woman's car, then forced her into a nearby wooded area with a knife. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call sheriff's detectives at 586-307-9358." Notice a lack of race in the description. Interesting how if he was a black man they'd be sure to state that. But since he's not, they don't feel the need to do so. Also note that Al "The Gadfly" Sharpton is coming to Mt. Clemens. That will set back race relations a few years. |
