I hope no one is getting tired of the photo threads. I took these when my dad and I took a trip to the musuem and Greektown for lunch. Mostly they were just taken walking around.

Have you had any training/classes in photography? Great pics. Either the camera is amazing or you're a great photographer.

No training, just an amateur with a good camera. My sister actually got into it first and shared a few tips with me. To be honest I cheated on a couple. It was really cloudy when we got to New Center so I brightened that picture a bit with the editing program that came with the camera. I have a couple more I took a couple of weeks ago of the west side of the CBD I'll try to add later.

Looks like you walked in front of my school across from that mansion at ferry and woodward. Great pictures. Thursday afternoon I think I am going to try to take some pics of midtown for everyone. Weather permitting of course.

Thank you for the photos! Although I was born in Detroit I have no memories of the city. I know that Mom and Dad were happy the 10 years they live there and seeing those pictures and the other ones on this site makes me think fondly of my parents (both now deceased) and makes me homesick for the more innocent, more godly, and more patriotic era that existed then.

I know that the "city made without hands that God is building for us is going to be so cool!! Like Detroit in the 40's to the 60's squared. Keep up the good work of relishing all the many good things in Detroit and trying to find the silver lining in all the city's clouds - I believe this city's better days are ahead. With people like Lowell and all of you, how could its future be anything but beautiful!

Remember, even when all looks dark, dreary, and lost, God still sits on the throne and He will have His way with Detroit. He loves all of you and every last person who ever lived there.

He believes in and loves all of us even when, especially when, we do not believe in ourselves OR each other. Like the Sun the Love of God is utterly dependable and certain. And as we love each other with the love He gives us, the more of Him people see in us.

Remember, the movie "Godspell" Jesus touched and transformed the hearts of just a few people who who through the same power touched a lot of people. As these people changed so did their communities (the analogy of the junkyard in the movie becoming a very nice place to live.

So join me in discovering this amazing God-given power, the marvelous secrets and the often hidden blessings of those around you AND the Scriptures (I am working on a study of Ephesians - Wow, is it awesome!) and keep looking up!!!!

(Please don't be offended by this post. We ARE all living in a sinsick, troubled, and often very dangerous world. Because of this we need all the help we can get. He already has shown us His wisdom and how we can use it to save ourselves, each other AND our beloved city.)

Frndvgd, that's a very great and inspiring post. I plan on moving to Detroit in the future and that is a great thought to keep in mind as I look towards my future. I too am a big fan of Scriptures and I try to read as often as possible. Thanks and WELCOME to the boards!!

Thats a very interesting take. I thought God left Detroit during the 2000 Census. Typically I just assumed it was just good ol' hard work and the drive for people wanting a truly urban environment to live in causing the rebirth of Detroit.I base my analogy off of the movie Tommy Boy. Please follow....

Town on the edge (Detroit) with only one main employeer (GM). Then the dad dies(urban sprawl) and Zalenski (LBP) wants to shut the factory and subsequently the town down (move GM to OC). But Tommy Boy (people fighting the good fight) comes through and talks Zalenski into keeping the factory (Detroit) and all is well (Detroit rebirth).

But thats just what I think. May be wrong.

Very nice post. Thanks.

Thanks. For those of us who are transplanted Detroiters (no longer in town, but our heart remains), I really appreciate your efforts.
