In addition to the 1 random light that has been on in the whitney building for a while now there are several other lights on other floors that are lit up tonight. Whatever is going on it is kinda neat to see what the building would look like if it were occupied. Anybody know what is going on over there?

i started a thread on this earlier, and most people thought it was just the security guard that lived there. However, tonight there were many more lights coming from the building, and they were much brighter and seemed more permanent. It really looked impressive

While waiting for Megabus at the Grand Circus Park People Mover stop last Friday, I saw two men with a lot of paperwork walk into a hidden side door in the Whitney Building. The door was on the Broadway side just behind the first drapery. When they came out I asked them what was going on with the building. One of the guys said they were there for the people mover stop, not the building. He paused before he said that and had a caught-in-the-cookie-jar look on his face, so I don't believe him. I have noticed a lot of activity around that building lately. I wouldn't be surprised if something is going on with it.

If the lights are the beginning of what is to come for that building, it is yet another great sign for Detroit. Keep the hope alive. Detroit is rising yet again!

I was hanging out at the Whitney on Broadway and Woodward the other day and ran into none other than BIG TONE. How crazy! Usually he hangs out on 30th, but today he was rockin' it out in front of the Broadway entry to the Whitney!

If the Whitney has a Broadway side then that is one big mother fucking building. There also must be a tunnel so cars can pass through on Woodward.

My bad, I meant Washington Boulevard side. For some unexplianable reason I have a habit of calling Washington Broadway.

The Whitney isn't the only one. Has anybody else noticed that there were a crapload of open windows at the Broderick? Way more than usual. This was Sunday evening when I noticed it. Some bum prolly got in there!

Could someone risk a few moments of spare time and get some pics of the lights on in the evening? I would love to see that!

Or maybe the lights are on because the owner refuses to lock the doors and people are just going inside to turn them on..sheesh. All this ridiculous speculation. Yes, the owner has been notified multiple times of this matter.

Sorry, I don't get all excited when about 20 windows are lit out of a 20 story building. Still looks quite vacant.

For the past couple of weeks I've noticed a bit more activity at the Whitney. One light in particular is always on.

I walked past it yesterday afternoon. The side door on Washington was open again and a bunch of activity going on inside. I poked my head to make sure people weren't looting the place and I saw a couple of guys shoveling construction debris into a wheel barrell. I asked one of them if this was part of a renovation or anything like that. The guy answered that they were just told to clean. It's the most activity I have seen in that building since Super Bowl prep. A good sign, I guess.

Since we haven't heard of a development.... maybe their getting it spruced up to put it up for sale??

The city probably told the owners to either do something with it, or sell it. And since we haven't heard any development news, it may well be the latter. Just speculating...
