Well at least Philly never had a period of time where they thought that casinos were the answer for revitalizing a downtown, and that they were so great that they deserve massive amounts of waterfront real estate. Philly has a vibrant downtown, diverse economy, and tons of other downtown attractions. I guess they're doing this just for kicks, or to rival Atlantic City.

I think Philly is my favorite American city outside of Detroit. This history, culture and people are all top notch. I use every excuse I can to visit family there.

When did Detroit get its first casino? Milwaukee got one in 1991 sadly.

One of the reasons that they are adding casino gambling in Pennsylvania is very reminiscent of the reason that Detroit did...

They got tired of having bus loads of Philadelphians go on day trips to Atlantic City, only about 90 minutes away. So instead of New Jersey getting all that gaming revenue, they decided to keep more money in state.
