This is off topic, but doesn't anyone at the Detroit News check this stuff out before they post it online? All these double-posted paragraphs are ridiculous. Is this any way to run a newspaper? |

My guess is there aren't double paragraphs in the actual text document, but when pulled up by the database program, some bug occurs now and then. |

The UA Building is being renovated as a part of the Quicken deal. I trust the source on this one... |

I will believe it when I see the deal in the newspaper. BUT SERIOUSLY, I WANT AN ANNOUNCEMENT SO BAD! I WANT TO GET ALL OF THESE RUMORS AND MAKE THEM FACTS! |

This may sound like my coffee had some funny stuff in it, but: Any chance Gilbert and Ilitch will announce at the same time (say same week) the move to the Statler site and a new arena "east of Cass" (behind the Fox)? If these gentlemen are dead serious about doing all then can do to help foster development in say the 'west of Woodward' area I can think of no better way then to drop both announcements together. Heck, that might even be on the national news of a downtown making a big comeback. I can see the story line: "Comerica Park, Ford Field, Compuware, B-C, casinos, Quicken and a new arena as both the auto industry and Detroit try to reinvent themselves." I think there is a nice feel good theme there. They could also tie it into the '67 civil disturbances. (Message edited by emu_steve on July 29, 2007) |

Another rumor....I heard from someone closely related to one of the proposed sites that Gilbert is for sure not doing the Hudson's site (although he has looked at it as potential site) or the site pitched to him by GM on the Riverfront. The source said for sure though that he is coming downtown. Yea I know more rumors... Its annoying... I want to hear an announcement more than anything. |

Could the Next Post PLEASE be an update and not more speculation? I'm tired of wasting 10 seconds of my life just to read RUMORS. |

then listen to wwj, or watch the news on tv, or pick up a newspaper. it's a forum, not a news site. If it wasn't for the rumors and speculation, i doubt you would be checking every single post for an update. Sorry you had to waste 10 seconds of your life to read this post. |

The only reason I check is because any single one of your useless speculated posts could actually be something important. I mean come on, we can discuss Quicken and how it would benefit downtown and all of that, but we don't need anything from Quozl's or Deandub's "Close related people" rumors. |

personally, i like the rumors. the serious ones, at least. please, keep them coming. Any 'important' developments will be reported by the media just as quick as it is reported here - it's the rumors that make this what it is, and not just another news site. We'll hear any important news from the media just as quickly as we'll hear it here. In the meantime, the rumors are thought provoking and give us alternatives to discuss. Sorry you don't like that. |

^^^Yes, but most Rumors have a long history of ending up False as for one, the person spreading them doesn't have a reliable source, but "I heard" or "This person told me". It's not ALL rumors that are bad, but over 95% of them have no leg to stand on, which is why they irritate me. (Message edited by Urbanize on July 29, 2007) |

^That is why it is called a rumor. Most likely, it will be mostly incorrect, or completely false. Yet some of them can be quite entertaining if they are way of base. BTW: Quicken's site has not had anything new on the rumored move to downtown. I've searched the whole site at least twice, and no signs of movement. |

A bit off topic but I dont see how a new arena would bring anything but another abandoned building, the Joe. I see the benefits coming from Quicken, The Book and fort Shelby but not from a new hockey arena. Even if I'm all alone on this one i want to keep the Red Wings where they are. It doesn't say much for the city to have to have all our stadiums in one place, like we can't have people walking anywhere but in Foxtown. Moving the arena would also hurt some businesses that depend on their locatio to the joe for game night business (ie. The Post, Cobo Joes). |

^Some, but not many. It wouldn't be as severe as when Tiger Stadium moved and all the businesses on Michigan got hurt. It would actually be better for business to move, since there are more restaurants/bars located near the proposed site. I also doubt the Joe would stay abandoned as long as some other buildings around here, since the plans to expand Cobo could go through if people wanted that to happen. |

With the coming renovations on that side of town, those places will do just fine. Also, a demolished Joe Louis Arena leaves a lot of room for an expanded Cobo, which is obviosly needed/ |

The arena is blocked in on almost every side where it is now. Look around Comerica Park after or before a game and you see a LOT more people milling about, enjoying the restaurants and bars... At the Joe, they hop off the freeway directly into the parking structure, walk through the tunnel, and arrive at JLA without ever stepping foot anywhere else. Nearby business will increase hugely with a new arena. As for the post and cobo joes, they will survive as the bars and restaurants outside Tiger Stadium have - with free shuttle service to and from games |

Urbanize... sorry that all these posts irritate you, but for someone that has posted nearly 2000 posts since your arrival in Feb 2007, you are hardly one to talk about incessant posting...
