Tomorrow at 1 is also part of the People Mover 20th anniversary celebration at the financial district station. It might be a day of announcements. |

-I am having trouble verifying that Habitat is part of Quicken Loans. -Also, why wouldn't K.K. want to do something at the Detroit Yacht Club or DAC so all the media is there? It is the DPM for goodness sakes. |

Also, for true city planning, why wouldn't Rock Financial/Quicken Loans be in the Financial District? |

"Also, for true city planning, why wouldn't Rock Financial/Quicken Loans be in the Financial District?" In a way, but for Detroit's sake, we need to build on the areas that won't see development like this in the upcoming future. The Financial district is the densest, most populated and most developed part of downtown. |

In Addition, Quicken isn't just any bank. They're a World-Class Corporation. So it really wouldn't make a big difference in where they locate I mean the Red Wings should be in the entertainment district for true city planning, but they're not. They could make a Commercial District by building at the Statler or Hudson Site |

I feel the announcment will happen along with habitat takeover. bump...bump.. .Habitat intends to make Trolley more corporate with aggressive renovations to the buildings interior as well as exterior. elevated rent, and updated amenities,. This includes a name change probably by years end. *Washington blvd apt?...Washington square apts?...Washington tower?..In the end, we will soon be flabergasted. An announcment of a corporate headquarter right next door to a 380 unit apartment highrise with 5 floors of parking. hmmmm this is getting warmer and warmer |

Well, the financial district is historically the financial district. Urbanize is right, it is the densest part of the city, and that's great, but to relegate Quicken to the financial district would be stupid. You might keep them out, because you relegate them to purchasing bits of existing office space, or building a very vertical tower on a small existing lot. That would be great, but Detroit is not in a position to make sure that happens. Empty land abounds all over. |

"Tomorrow would have to be the day" Again, that could mean a lot of things. Don't go getting all angry at Gilbert if there's no announcement tomorrow simply because you read too much into his statement. |

Interesting link, 1953. Some interesting logic on why downtown Class A space is a good investment was employed in that story. I have to agree with it though. |

I can't wait to see how this announcement comes out in the news. It could go in any number of directions. Gilbert could announce his intentions to the mayor in a conference call, and the city could announce it first. Quicken could simply write a press release at any time of the day, mostly likely allowing the internet and tv media to report it first, and then hold a full press conference or ceremony the next day. It could be more impromptu (from our standpoint) i.e. a public appearance with City officials that is only announced an hour beforehand, with no one knowing what will be said. My guess is that Quicken leaks the news to ONE of the newspapers for a morning edition story; the story will simply say what site they've chosen, and a ceremony or press conference will follow in a day or two. We shall see! |

Although Linkner also said it was too early to tell if there was going to be a move. Although ePrize has outgrown its current offices. |

They all know what's happening. Bill Walsh would not have said what he said the way he wrote it if something in the interview (or past talks with Gilbert) didn't make it very clear that they were coming with Quicken. It's a setup. There wouldn't be a story in the paper on 7/31/07 about some random little company if they weren't a player in the upcoming news. Walsh is simply doing them the favor of getting them some name recognition in the general public before the big announcement. It will happen. But why is it too soon to tell? Pleeeease. I'm not the most impatient person around, but this is a test. (Message edited by mackinaw on July 31, 2007) |

I agree. The past 2 articles having to do with Quicken have been company profiles. The first on Quicken and the second with Eprize. And they both had the question in them,"Will you move to downtown Detroit?" Also I think that that,"It is too soon to tell," was a smiling and hinting statement, but through the newspaper that is not apparent. |
