It's October!

October + "dress-up-for-halloween" = drag-queens.

Quicken + "Qwiggen" = drag-queens.

That means... drag-queens + October = QUICKEN!

yipeeeeeeeee!

A shiny Bank of America tower on one of those sites advertised to Quicken would be just as nice.

Hey everyone. I hope this isn't libelous, but I hear tell, based on a few 1000 posts in this thread, that Quicken is planning to open an HQ in downtown Detroit. Any news yet or have they opted to file for chapter 11 instead? Thanks in advance for any insight and/or wisdom you can share on this issue!

Sports writer...not business writer.

Who cares what some source from a locker room tells him. Geesh.

This thread is pretty much Obsolete. Please, let it rest. If Quicken is having financial trouble, a Multi-Million dollar move is out of the question in this lifetime.

Didn't Ken Burns write about baseball, along with a number of others, in addition to their regular stuff?

i dont understand why everyone says Quicken is going bankrupt...I have seen absolutely 0 evidence to indicate that Quicken is doing anything but fine. So please back your claims up, or else don't make them

Well, Apbest, you see, there are only 2 possibilities...it's either Quicken is in the best shape it's ever been in, or it's going bankrupt...there is no in between...there is simply no possibility that Quicken has been doing great for years, and is now simply seeing a mild slowdown due to some of the problems plaguing the mortgage industry...

You see, the only possibilities are either: 1) They are doing great, in which case they will build an 80-story glass tower on the Statler site; and save Detroit and SE MI; or 2) The are doing horrible, in which they are going out of business and all of SE MI will be burned to the ground as a result

Neither have the posters. They have no idea how their business is run and speculate based on news about the lending industry in general. Unless, a Quicken Loans executive makes a statement on this board assume what you hear is speculation.

Perhaps, some reports about how a mortgage banking firm like QL operates might shed some light on things. Apparently, QL prefers not to discuss their business openly--a very understandable MO. QL is a private business and it's perfectly ethical for them to hold their cards closely to their chest.

BOTOH, there is a Web site that caters to disgruntled employees of mortgage bankers and their dissatisfied customers. The following link connects to a recent 11-part series about how QL operates, presented by some hostile to QL. So, take it with a grain of salt, as to its veracity and accuracy...

Warning: This Post Is Total Speculation and Rumour, I Am Looking for Verification
-----

I was talking to some networking folks who are vendors for Quicken/Rock, and a lot of them are telling me that Quicken/Rock is being broken up and is not doing well, and that the HQ project is on severe life support if not dead.

I don't know jack about this sort of thing (it ain't my industry - and I don't know well these folks who tell me this, but I've heard it three times now in a short period - it's getting to be a hot rumour, hence my mention), but maybe someone with more knowledge could say more?

Unless a Quicken Loans executive (preferably a Board member) posts a statement on this board regarding this issue, assume what you hear is speculation. Probably libelous as well. He or she should also be required to swear on a stack of bibles.

WDET is reporting that Quicken is close to make a decision whether to stay in Livonia or to move. Mayor Kilpatrick said in a sound bite that he and Gilbert are still discussing a Detroit move and that it's premature to make an announcement, but one should be coming soon.

Yes, yes, we've been there before, but I liked the optimism in the Mayor's voice today.
