how exactly does HDR work? Does it take something special on the camera or on the computer? I'm always so impressed with pictures shot this way.

Southen, just curious, do you sell many of your photos? Just wondering if your hobby gets you a little money on the side....

Jerome since i opened up that site ive sold probably close to a dozen prints ranging from 8x12 to 24x36. All the money I make off of it goes right back into getting more camera goodies.

Flyby those HDRs turned out rather cool. I dont think ive ever seen aerial photographs done that way before.

^Awesome shot of the Penobscot. It really shows the power and energy Detroit still has against an ominous looking sky.

Gsgeorge, I was meaning to take some photos in that alley myself. The various brick colors (and brick street surface) make it a great subject.

Mackinaw, I shot part of my film in that alley. It has great views in both directions. Really a unique vestige from the pre-Lafayette Park/urban redevelopment days. Somehow it survived, being right along Gratiot near Eastern Market.

From where was that Bohemianrobot? I'm trying to figure it out using downtown, the towers in Dearborn and what looks like a water tower in the middle (Ford Livonia?) I'd say out past Plymouth possibly? From a low flying plane?

@ Elsuperbob - the plane was around 94 and A2 Saline Rd when I shot that. I had the camera zoomed all the way in, so the very bottom of the image is roughly Washtenaw Ave in Ypsi Township. You can make out the strip mall where the Sec of State is. Just past that, you can make out the dorm towers at EMU and the Leforge Rd/Huron River Dr area as well.

Thanks Cman, im really pleased with those MCS shots as well. Just ordered a bunch of prints for myself.

Mauser you can actually do an HDR from a single image. It isnt considered a true HDR since the shot wasnt bracketed but using a program like photoshop you can extract enough information from a single image to create an HDR.

That photo looks like it was taken from the top of Malden Park Hill in Windsor- The hill is actually a garbage landfill!
