The Detroit Sandlot Baseball Club is a group of mediocre ball players who play pick-up, sandlot-style baseball (no, not softball) in Detroit. Everyone is welcome to come out and play regardless of skill level. Some of us are pretty decent; some of us are pretty bad. Games are laid back, fun, and non-competitive (okay, sometimes they get slightly competitive). We use mostly use wood bats, but metal bats are allowed. We even sometimes are forced to use rules such as "right field out", "pitcher's hand", or employ the mysterious "ghost runner". Whether you used to play baseball and are feeling nostalgic or are just interested in having fun and grabbing a drink afterwards, the Detroit Sandlot Baseball Club is for you. The 2008 season for the Detroit Sandlot Baseball Club plays every Wednesday at 5:00pm. As of this moment, DSBC is looking for a "Home of Detroit Sandlot Baseball". Check it out: www.detroitsandlot.com or www.myspace.com/detroitsandlot |

That is a really great idea! I am definitely entertaining the thought of joining. Is there a minimum age? |

Are we thinking the corridor or clark park again? I think Curly and I would be open to suggestions on a field that could work on a permanent basis any suggestions? |

There usually no one out on the WSU field at Warren and Trumbull. Theres a backstop there right on the corner. Of course no alcoholic beverages are permitted on campus Im not sure if that has an effect on the game. |

Carver elementary school has a real sandlot and a backstop. this is where i used to play sandlot baseball when i was a youngin. it is a true warrendale institution. i am obsessed with baseball and would love to do this. ever since spring arrived, i've been itching to play some baseball. but i have a men's meeting on wednesday night. could you change the night perhaps? |

There are a couple great ball fields in an E. Jefferson Ave. city park that are generally empty. They are very well maintained. I wish I could remember the city park that contains them. It is right on the river, as you approach Grosse Pointe. |

I think it will be either wayne or 3rd and selden. Does anyone know if the wayne field requires a fee or anything? Clark Park is probably out because of the 75 mess. so we can decide which is better and meet next week at 5pm at one or the other. |

Warm up at 5ish, game at 6ish, now everyone is happy, yeah! 3rd and Seldon on the 7th, which ever of the two fields look better. By then WSU can be contacted and everything with WSU can be squared away. |

Urbanoutdoors: That's the park I was thinking about! I was there a couple weekends ago to throw the football around. Absolutely gorgeous park in need of a little trash pick up. The ballfields are the best I've seen in the city, and are open to the public. It's now called Maheras-Gentry Park.
