hey all. When was the first time you visited Tiger Stadium? Or, for some of you, Brigs Stadium.

The first time i went to the old ball park was in 1965??. My dad took me to see the Tigers lose 2-1 to the Angels, which wasn't so bad for me because it was bat day. That bat got a lot of use until finally, after about 10 years, it broke. Those were real bats.

Tigers vs Boston. May 20th, 1978. The most vivid memory is walking through the concourse and catching a glimpse of green and blue through every entrance. Then stepping into the stadium, seeing the explosion of color, then seeing my heroes in person, still larger than life. Rusty Staub, Alan Trammel, Lou Whitaker, Jason Thompson, Aurelio Rodriquez, Steve Kemp. The sounds, the smell of the giant Ballpark dinner franks. If heaven will be like that day, it will be bliss.

First time in the late 50's when I was about seven years old. I probably went to Tiger Stadium between the Tigers and Lions 300 times...I, too, remember the smell of the "red hots" and the beer.......The concourse always seemed dank and cold, but I loved every minute.

1966. Don't remember the game.
I used to stand at the top of the ramp and watch all the people flowing toward Michigan and Trumbull and try to guess what the crowd would be that day. After about 30 years I tired of that game.

My first and last Tiger game that I saw at venerable Tiger Stadium was on May 16, 1999. I caught the Tigers and Indians. I am a huge fan of the classic parks and wanted to catch a game at the Stadium before it was shuttered for good. I am from Indiana and was born and raised a Cubs fan. So, I have attended many games at Wrigley Field as it is close to where I grew up. Anyway, as soon as I walked into Tiger Stadium, I realized it definitely was as special as Wrigley, if not even more. I instantly fell in love with the park from the dark narrow concourses, to the cavernous feel in your seat, to the classic trough style bathrooms, and of course the best asset of the park the closeness of the field to the seats along with the many other intricacies to numerous to name. I loved it because when you were in Tiger stadium you were cut off from the world due to the enclosed seating. You were transported away from Detroit to a world where baseball was king along with the experience of watching the game. Unlike the open park concepts of today where each park tries to incorporate scenery (such as a city skyline) in its open outfield, typically that has nothing to do with the game itself, Tiger Stadium was a true baseball park.

I sat in the upper box row 4 section 322 and had a spectacular view of the action on the field. I enjoyed my short time there thinking of all the great history that that field has seen.

It would be nice to see a portion of the park preserved for history, but unfortunately the magic of the corner has been lost for good and will never return. Thanks for the great memories old friend.

Saw the Red Sox destroy the Tigers, I think it was 12 to 3 or somewhere close to that, in late May, 1958. Birthday with dad. Seats were in right field, where we could see Al Kaline and Jackie Jensen below us. Jensen and Ted Williams took a warm up lap around the outfield before the game, and Jensen tossed a ball into the stands. He was MVP that year, but only played one more year, because he hated to fly! Another memorable moment was when a loud fan behind us with a bottle of Corby's in his pants was escorted away....
