Well, you knew it was just a matter of time before she'd have to find another job. Too bad she thinks Detroit voters are stupid enough to make her mayor. Can you believe the chutzpah of this woman? The smell from Kwame is still strong around her and she thinks she has a chance. Unbelievable. I thought Kwame was in denial. This really takes the cake. |

Sorry, but after watching the circus and her POOR performance, I can't imagine ANYONE finding her to be competent enough to be Mayor. She will find some supporters, but we need brighter and better people than her as Mayor AND in City Counsel! |

That chick is nuts, crazy, daffy, loco, outta her damn mind! And so is any fool that would support her. Why can't she just quietly go away? Let the city move forward without all the nonsense she will instill into the campaign. The same goes for a lot of the other "candidates" Been there, done that, not looking forward to the sequel. Although, some of them might be very good on council. Where there is a desperate need to upgrade. To put it nicely. |

OH HELL NO! Sharon McPhail can so many times to become mayor, but she will McFAILED by the primaries! Don't let this KWAMUNIST ( It's not a word) become mayor of Detroit. Voting for her it's having Kwame Kilpatrick back in office. |

Ya'll underestimate the ignorance of the voting public in Detroit. I still believe there is a HUGE pocket of support for KK that would elect him if he ran today and they will cast their vote in her direction instead. |

Diva...almost threw up all over my desk! That's what I get for reading this stuff while I am supposed to be working! I am afraid that "taxpayer" may be right, people will vote for her because of name recognition and her connection to Kwame. Ugh! |

She's like the guest that wouldn't leave. The only way to keep her from running for office is to put a stake through her heart. Get out the garlic everyone. |

Give the voters of Detroit more credit. Yes the voters do vote based on name recognition too often and mistakes are made often in the lesser offices. However for mayor the voters have been historically pretty good. The only real mistakes in my opinion is CAY's 4th and 5th terms and you could make a case for Kwame's 2nd term based on info at the time not what we know now. I remember a few years back how McPhail and her husband (still is I think) were going to be the power couple in Detroit , she as the mayor and he as the head of DPS (that did happen but not at the same time). The people saw thru that and they will see thru this. Her window of opportunity for mayor has closed. |

Two Peas in a Pod Detroit Councilwoman Sharon McPhail says someone tried to shock her off her rocker Tuesday afternoon, and she pointed the finger at Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's administration. "The guy is a thug. He's a bully," McPhail said of the mayor. "Basically, he's the kind of person that if you don't do what he wants, he's going to go after you." Kilpatrick was shocked -- that the councilwoman would blame his administration. "This is a serious accusation," Kilpatrick said. "It's ridiculous. . . . I don't understand how we are in this at all." ... Police were investigating after McPhail reported that the electric massager attached to a leather rocker-recliner desk chair in her office had been rigged to give her a shock. McPhail said she didn't turn on the massager and didn't receive a jolt. "It's perceived to be a threat right now," Police Lt. James Elliot of the armed robbery unit said. Elliot said McPhail claims someone cut the wires of the plug-in back massager, which drapes over the chair, and wrapped them tightly around the chair's metal base. Evidence technicians were sent to photograph the chair and massage device in McPhail's 13th-floor office in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center on Tuesday afternoon. ... McPhail said Kilpatrick has been unhappy with her since she voted against amended development agreements he worked out with two of the three casino developers in August. She said the mayor also is out to get her because he sees her as a potential rival in the next mayoral election. The Detroit Free Press |

She's running to muddy the waters. I know she acts like an idiot and she's a marginal attorney (you should have heard Thomas dressing her down quietly during the Governor's hearings). She's throwing her hat in the ring because the "bigger powers" want her to. I keep hoping if we ignore her, she'll go away. But I've been hoping that for some time now... |

Ok, some of this is getting a bit overboard. She has every right to run, and though we have every right to ignore her some of you are laying it on awfully thick. You'd think that she was the worst candidate to ever run for mayor of Detroit or any political office in the country and that she's the worst human being in history with how she's talked about, here. I personally believe given some of the other people that are running or poised to run she ranks last among the top-tier candidates, but she's not a terrible candidate. Coleman was a lot of things, but stupid wasn't one of them. He wouldn't have picked someone he thought incapable of leading the city. What she's become since then is fair game, but the online response is a bit much and speaks to something else... (Message edited by lmichigan on September 25, 2008) |

Sharon McFail has proved to have no conscience, no morals, no sense of right from wrong; even as Kwame plead guilty, she spewed her rhetoric. How about standing up for what is right? Fuck that shit about just "doing her job". Detroit doesn't need someone like her. No city does. |

I caught this in yesterday's Freep: "McPhail said she is running to complete the programs launched by Kilpatrick and to stabilize city government." Now THAT's scary! What programs is she planning to complete? The awarding of outrageous contracts to KK friends and family? |
