Give me your top 5 favorite songs by Detroit bands. Genre doesn't matter. Just on a selfish note it would be nice if they were easy to find to purchase online because I intend to make a playlist.

That's a very difficult question, JL. There are so many genres and time periods to be traversed by only five songs.

Is there a specific genre you're aiming for?

I think Detroit successfully stole J. Geils from Boston. So I would say yes.

I always liked Rock & Roll by Mitch Ryder.
Does the it matter who writes the song, because Mitch did mainly covers.

Stevie Wonder - I Was Made to Love Her
Twistin Tarantulas - Snake in the Grass
Four Tops - Reach Out I'll Be There (best intro to any song ever?)

So many songs to choose from; so few spots to fill. Here are 5 Detroit artist songs in no particular order or significance. Just the first 5 songs that pop in my head:

MC5 - Shakin Street
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Kid Rock - Cowboy
Ted Nugent - Free For All
Bob Seger - Heavy Music

Also, if you are going by the J Geils rule, then the Kiss are fair game as well. Live at Cobo album launched their success.

On a side note, in light of recent Holidays, I'd also like to add Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein to my list

(edited: typed Ramones instead of Kiss. This is why you don't type and listen to a conference call at the same time.)

Oh wow, this is a very colorful topic.

I agree with Luckycar & Scorpio.

I also like...

-Loving Is Really My Game = Brainstorm
-Let's Start The Dance = Hamilton Bohannon
-I'm Gonna Make You Love Me = The Supremes/The Temptations
-Tears of a Clown = Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
-Aqua Boogie = Parliament (quiet as it's kept, P-Funk originated from Motown)

Do you mean Kiss? The Ramones have no such album.
