Brian:

Candidate Forums and Meet the Candidates are usually scheduled by groups, community organizations, etc.

The fliers you posted appear to suggest that each of these events are being sponsored by Sharon and Benny. Is this correct?

If Sharon and Benny are sponsoring these events and the Mayor or Freman don't attend, what will Sharon say? They're scared? They don't care?

Something doesn't seem right. If the Mayor sponsored a Mayoral candidates night, I wonder whether Sharon and Benny would show up or try to sabotage it.

"Candidate Forum with all Detroit 2005 Mayoral Candidates"

If your candidate of choice does not attend, don't blame anyone but your candidate for missing the opportunity.

Is this "Cafe De Troit" the same venue frequently mentioned on this site?

Freman Hendrix attended. Mayor Kilpatrick sent Christine Beatty. Councilwoman McPhail sent Benny Napoleon.

I can just imagine it:
Beatty: "do you know who the fukk I am?"
Freman: "apparently I'm not even an official candidate."
Benny: "Sharon sends her regards."

Beatty rambles without a single pause for 15 minutes without coming up for air, thus beating her previous record for non-stop babbling.

Benny explains excessive force and consent decree origins. He also explains why he had the largest police posse protecting him (in the nation) during his tenure as chief.

Freman explains why he's using campaign funds to lease a Cadillac. Then goes on to add how Mayor Archer did this and that blah, blah, blah.

Sharon couldn't attend because she was studying how to be funny at the Second City Comedy Club where her daughter performs.

The Mayor couldn't attend because he has raising more dollars at a private fundraiser for his war chest.

It was a good turnout. Real people had a chance to ask their questions. There are more forums where questions can be asked of all candidates. Not just town halls where the candidate directs the questions and controls the format.

I don't expect people like aram to attend. He does not and has not lived in Detroit nor does he vote in Detroit. ;)

But I hope that those who live in Detroit come out.

Is this right? Sharon sets up a "Candidate Forum with all Detroit 2005 Mayoral Candidates" and then the only actual candidate who bothered to show up is Freman Hendrix? Where was Sharon, home writing letters to the editor? If she were somehow elected, would she plan on phoning it in?

Is Ecorse still holding her job for her? She better hope so.

Morena: Do you recall any of what Beatty said, issues, statistics, rebuttals, etc.? I know she's a sharp shooter, did she hit anything or anybody?

Amelia, (unfortunately for you and Mayor Kilpatrick) Ms. Beatty was the least well-received 'candidate' at the forum. Speaking quickly w/o seeming to breathe, looking down at the ground half of the time, talking about herself for the first couple of minutes of the 5+ minutes allotted time (4.0 in college, blah...blah...blah), referring to the glossy color brochure and using it as a prop, blaming previous administrations, and most importantly not actually answering citizens/moderator questions wasn't very "sharp shooting".

Rasputin, once again you show that you have nothing to add to a conversation, other than false claims. Go Figure...as Hendrix was the most informative as well as well-received of all the candidates/representatives at the forum.

Sharon's Plan:

The Detroit casino's will be required to provide all the money necessary to fix Belle Isle, save the Aquarium, and maintain the Island for the next 30 years.

If Archer and now KK didn't destroy all the revenue from the casinos than perhaps the casino money could be used for just that purpose.
