Ms Taylor is a hometown grassroot candidate that's running for Alonzo Bates seat on the City Council. The Sister is a down to earth candidate who will not let the citizens of detroit down by mis representing them, and currently she is the State Chairlady for the National Welfare Rights organization.Naureen D. Taylor and her organization, along with her other rights groups is involved in Water Rights,Housing,Unemployement,a nd Human Rights.I can proudly speak on behalf of Ms Taylor because I have known her a few years, and I know personally that she's a true fighter. This coming August if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, vote for a true Sister who will not turn down, ignore,or throw your complaints in the trash can.

How can she run for Alonzo Bates' seat? Not saying that he shouldn't be shown the door, but as the election is set up, as I understand it, without a ward system one cannot run for a specific councilperson's seat.

Just what we need another social worker on the CC. One more council person to treat the middle class as second rate citizens.

NAH!!! Maureen Taylor, doesn't have enough principles to run for city council. Alonso Bates popularity would kick her out in August Primary in no time.

Does she have a Web site? If not... I can suggest a really good, cheap way to set one up. I don't know Taylor. But I DO know that challengers are at a real disadvantage.

Thank you IloveDetroit for your support to Ms Taylor. Now to Danny and Merchantgander.First Danny, If you support Alonzo Bates you are just as bad as he is.Merchantgander,Yes her profession is Social work aka Human services, and to me as a Human service worker myself I believe she would do a outstanding job on the council, why? Because being in the Human service field you learn what other people need, and one will be able to do anything that's within their means to help, and believe me Detroit needs help. Now to talk about Ms Taylor running for Alonzo Bates seat, well she can run for it,and it appears to me you need a taste of awareness the term to use would be she is his opponent, and hopefully she will send him back to collecting bottles and cans providing if he don't get sent to jail. Here is Ms Taylor's website www.taylorforcouncil.org

William_X,
First, Welcome to the forum, it's a little slice of Heaven.

Now for the bad news, there are many of us who'll check you if the facts aren't there.

No one runs for a specific Council seat, they run for one of 9.

Jams - So right I caught that..but let it go! Oh and by me saying I support her the Fremanites (I support McPhail) will automatically say she is wrong.

Jams - I don't mean you are a Freman person...I know you are undecided although I think we can get you in the McPhail side.

PS - I told Denise that you are trying to get your friend out to dinner and what Sharon told you ... she laughed and laughed.

I'm sure Ms. Taylor is a very capable candidate, but you must wonder how exactly she plans to be on the City Council if she doesn't even understand how her election to said council would work.

Looks like her endorsements are pretty interesting as well. Michigan Socialist Party and the Michigan Green Party...

ILD,
Sorry, I'm sticking to my stance. I hold people accountable, if they are willing to make a choice, show me why with facts.

If these people want to represent me and make decisions affecting my life, I want to know what they plan to do, not who they are against.

William-x, I agree Detroit needs help people with a financial or business background that actually know how the city is supposed to be run and doesn’t believe in entitlements. We already have Watson and one social worker is too many. Any person can know what people need, but it is a skill to know what you can actually afford to give and in an efficient way.

Maureen Taylor is more than a social worker...she is a smart and very intelligent woman. Who has a stong passion about Detroit and the people who live here. City Council is not necessarily about being a business entity they are also about caring for the citizens. Personally I am going to vote for Maureen, I really like Sarah Snow (she is a passioante liberal and very smart), and Ernest Flagg (smart business guy who graduated out of the sschool of hard knocks).
