KK gets the vote from the pastors.

Council of Baptist Pastors endorses Kilpatrick

Tuesday, September 13, 2005

BY PATRICIA MONTEMURRI
FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER

The Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity endorsed incumbent Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on Tuesday by a vote of 49-32, in his re-election bid against challenger Freman Hendrix.

Kilpatrick showed up to hear the results and thank the pastors in person. The mayor's wife, Carlita, also attended.

"Praise the Lord," the mayor said. "I am humbled completely by the vote today. It's absolutely awesome to have the support of the moral leadership of the spiritual community."

Doesn't Kwame have a pastor on the city payroll to act as a "liason" between the city and the churches, or some BS like that? I thought I read that there was some pastor getting paid like 80K a year to do this. So much for seperation of Church and State.

Warriorfan:
He does. In fact, when one considers all of the tax dollars that Mayor Kilpatrick has shoved their way in an effort to keep his job, it's amazing that the vote was as close as it was.

A 17-vote margin, out of 81 ballots cast.

During eight years of Archer was no money ever provided to any of Detroit's churches? Or was that how Archer kept his job?

No clue.

No, he kept it by making sure everyone under him (the cops, firefighters and so on) did their job.

Helmut supporters conveniently ignore Archer's scandals involving Devil's night, the snow scandal, the housing scandal, the DPD justice department consent decree, the allegations of police brutality, AND the heavy criticism by the papers now endorsing Helmut on Archer's choice that Watkin's replaced.

Fnemecek, you just lied on KK and the tax dollars yet don't know that Archer gave more money to the churches during his yearly tax money giveaway.

Brian:
Oh, that's so damn funny. I don't pretend to be an expert on everything.

You asked two questions in a previous post. I admitted that I didn't know the answer to one of them and then gave you the answer to the other.

If you, or anyone else, would like to step forward with an answer about how much money Archer gave the various churches, please do so.

I said to unto them WOE TO THOU HYPOCRITES! FOR THOU HAST CLOSETH THY BOOK OF THE LORD. AND YE PASTETH THINE UNGODLY WAYS INTO THE SONS OF SATAN!

The Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit should have known that Christianity is its own nation under the spiritual holy government in the Kingdom of God (DEVS REGNI ). They have no right to endorse any ungody government. So Religion and politics don't mix.

Fnemecek, its part of the public record. In the minimum it was around $1 million. But that does not county city land or the contracts Archer pushed through the housing commission after it was split from the city.

Histeric who said I was trying to help KK? Further, you never read my posts on Sharon because I did not solicit votes here as most here can't vote in Detroit. If you are pushing KK, you would do better to ignore this site.

If you ever showed up at a couple of the off-line events we have, or otherwise got to know some of folks who post here, you'd know that is totally false.

Okay, Brian, it is possible that you may have been to some of the events and I just didn't see you or meet you.

However, regarding your point most of the people on this board aren't eligible to vote in Detroit, that is still false.

Brian, the fact that he didn't see you (if you have in fact even been to any events) contradicts your latest outrageous allegation.

And for the record, I haven't been to any events.

I don't know Frank...when I went to the picnic I was surprised at the number of people WHO don't live in Detroit...I don't know who everyone is but a good number did not live in the city. I know Brian and he lives in the city with his family. He is honest with that!

"Ilovedetroit" your stories aren't matching up again. According to a previous thread...no one was able to vouch for your claim of having attended the picnic.

I guess a person claiming to be a...woman then a man...White...then Black...then White, Black, and Native American...then "not identifying with a particular race"...hetrosexual then homosexual..."creative class type" then not a "creative class type"...blonde then not blonde...just wasn't easy to spot! :-)

ILD, if you were indeed at the picnic, no one seems to have talked to you because someone would have posted that they met you. and since you didn't talk to anybody (if you were indeed there), how would you know where people who were there were from? is that once again an example of your supreme skills at visually gauging things about a group of people that you wouldn't know unless you asked them?

Aram - You are a suburbanite.

And yes I was there...I met Bratt that day. I saw Sport - thought I would say hello but he was busy chatting with two other STR Republican buddies :-) (that is a joke Sport). I also met Blondie (she is nice), I also met Lowell. I did not go around saying that I am ILD unless I chose to say so.

Wow more impressive "points of credibility" from "Ilovedetroit". You "met" Bratt (who is still "impartial" about the mayoral candidates). And you "met" Quinn at a McPhail event. Right.
