NOT TRUE DANNY....the ones along Jefferson are supporting KK. In fact at my favorite liquor store they ALL are wearing KK wrist bands. Apparently many of them don't like Benny Napoleon.

Few of this camp vote in Detroit - but I believe that the Associated Food Dealers of Michigan recently made a huge contribution to Hendrix campaign. ILD is quite wrong - as usual.

KK orchestrated a huge crackdown on party stores last year. Cops, B&SE visited every one of'em at least twice. This PR stunt did nothing but piss off the party store owners. KK supporters? Not a chance.

Zulu Warrior must be right, when you make the green you don't have to worry about who's going to be the next mayor. The problem with too many city residents is that they believe that politics will solve their problems. It won't. Hard work and dedication to that work is the only true means of making it better for oneself and one's family.

Royce - You must be a Republican. "Hard work and dedication" is what solves problems? You have to have opportunity first. You can work your ass off all day for a min. wage and get no where real fast if you have rent to pay and kids to feed.

ilovedetroit, the bottom line is that Detroiters don't own the majority of businesses in their communities and as a result rely too heavily on government for employment. Reduce city jobs, DPS jobs, and government jobs like the postal service and social security and you'd have many thousands of Detroiters out of work. Would this be an issue for Arab and Chaldean store owners? No. They would still be running their stores and taking Detroiters' money, at least until it ran out. Even then they would still be alright because they would have savings and assets that would sustain them.

This election is so emotional for Detroiters because Detroiters are concerned about their city jobs. If more Detroiters were employed elsewhere or owned their own businesses, they wouldn't be so concerned about the next mayor. The fear that Kilpatrick supporters have about Hendrix is that he is going to privatize city jobs or reduce them far more than what Kilpatrick has already done. What they don't realize is that Kilpatrick will have to do the same thing to reduce the deficit. Hendrix supporters fear that Kipatrick will misuse valuable tax dollars keeping his friends and family in those coveted city jobs, inflating the budget deficit.

Both camps are concerned about city jobs. Hendrix supporters are more concerned about efficient city services. We understand that city jobs will have to be cut. We realize that some of us might be a part of those cuts. However, many of us can find other comparable jobs. Many Kilpatrick and former McPhail supporters fear the job cuts more because they don't have the same opportunities to find comparable jobs with their skills and levels of education.

The bottom line is that to reduce or eliminate the budget deficit, jobs will have to be eliminated in city government. Until the city finds a way to collect more revenue, this is the only course of action to take or the city will be in receivership, where the cuts will be more drastic.
