At Rosa Parks' funeral, it was stated that we should all make a "Rosa Resolution" as a new commitment to improve this world.

What is your Rosa Resolution?

My Rosa Resolution is to take an uncompromising stand for freedom and truth, and to defend them till I die.

What is your Rosa Resolution?

Kick ass thread, Zulu.

I resolve to act on the things I say here with regards to working towards the utopian ideal of a racially blind society, with special emphasis on helping foster children and older generations gain what they need to overcome years of systemic gaps in education and other basic human needs.

I yearn to enjoy a reality where MLK's Dreams come true.

(RIP, Ms. Parks. Thanks, again, for just being you in the right place at the right time. It was about time...)

A mind, a voice and an action, when combined with the TRUTH is unstoppable. Think, speak, act--my Rosa resolution.

Thank you, Mrs. Parks.

My Rosa Resolution is to search out a worthy civil rights-related movement/organization and offer my time or skills sometime within the next year. I want to prove to myself that actions really do speak louder than words.

I will stand up to the rotten corporate bastards who want to destroy our way of life and work us all into poverty and I will not be afraid.

And I will never cross a picket line.

Thank you Sister Rosa.

Thanks for the thread, Zulu. But there's something a bit missing.

LMichigan, thanks for proposing something specific. Too many resolutions are pie-in-the-sky "I'll support freedom." Okay, playas--how do you plan on doing that?

I intend to attend the conversation on race relations being held at the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Nov. 18.

There is a viewing of Robert Greenwald's movie on WalMart next week (at St. John's Episcopal Church on 11 mile and Woodward) "WalMart, the High Cost of Low Prices" - I will help to mobilize people to come out there. I belong to a group of labor union activists against the war in Iraq,we are organizing events to educate my fellow workers. Women In Black peace march is Saturday, November 12 at Shain Park in Birmingham. A meeting next week to organize an action in support of the Northwest Airlines mechanics and an action in support of the Delphi workers who are being screwed into the ground.

anyone who is interested in these actions let me know. Everybody welcome, especially Women In Black, which is a deeply spiritual experience. Men are very welcome. Wear black if possible and prepare for a silent march. Dress for weather.

Talk it, walk it. In the spirit of Rosa Parks.

I wish I could condense my resolve into one or two sentences like the others on here, but I guess I have to let it sift through my brain for a few more days.

Mine involves my kids and teaching them to understand that people all have the same worries and problems. Problems start when I focus on me and mine and stop helping others with theirs and ours.

Somewhere in there I want to work in the aspect of silence or "few words." Time and again while watching the funeral yesterday I realized how rarely you ever heard Mrs. Parks speak.

I've wanted to volunteer at a shelter or organization that helps battered women for a couple of years now but have always put it off with excuses of not enough time, after I get my Masters, after I move, not being emotionally stable enough to deal with these women who need me to be strong for them, etc. I didn't think about it until I saw this thread but I hope it will persuade me to get off my butt and finally do it.

Thanks Zulu.

One thing I have been pondering over the last several years is starting a program to teach poor, inner-city females about building successful businesses.
