I predict that once Kilpatrick leaves office in January, that he will become the next entertainment mogul. Making folks in Detroit forget all about Berry Gordy and Motown. He has made great connections in the Hip Hop industry. He has made friends with the very rich and famous/infamous. He has the style, charimsa and salesmanship to be a great promoter. He loves to party all the time. He is a natural for the industry. Move over P Diddy, Lil KK is on the way.

KING KWAME can hit the State Legislature seat. He's popular there then in Detroit.

I made the same prediction a few months ago. I think he'd be a fantastic record promoter.

He'll make 10 times as much money than he would as mayor and will probably do more for Detroit as well.

Sorry, ILD. There's optimism and then there's naivete. The best case scenario that the Kilpatrick Camp can realistically hope for at this point is that he'll at least get 45% of the vote.

The only thing that could strongly improve his chances would be if voter turn-out was very low. The National Weather Service is calling for a 30% chance of showers, which might dampen the turnout (sorry for the pun), but it won't have enough of an impact to change the result.

Sorry, Mellodrama, but I think you're wrong on both accounts.

First, I doubt Mayor Kilpatrick will be back for a second term. (See above for details).

Second, he has no shot a Conyer's seat because:

a) Buzz Thomas has already staked himself out as the next Democrat for it - Kilpatrick & Thomas are too close of allies for Kilpatrick to go after it and
b) The 14th Congressional District now stretches all the way to Southgate. From my experience, folks Downriver like him even less than Detroiters do.
