First of all, have you people learned nothing about polling??? If you will recall, polls showed Kerry beating W consistently throughout election day in '04... They also showed Gore beating W for most of the day in '00. I think we'll have to wait until the polls close to get a real idea here... and even then, it will probably have to be recounted a few times before anyone is sattisfied.

"I swear, if King Kwame wins, I'm leaving the city."

Why not put a real, logical, reason behind the exodus..?

I would suspect that younger voters will have turned out by now so that they could get to their jobs. That being said, have those who have voted noticed the demographics of their voting lines? (IE: Age, race, gender). This may help sort out the poll issue.

A real reason? Why? I'm not going to get into that because I don't want a flame war to start.

Most of the people I have seen when i voted were primarily those of color and average age of about maybe 38+ I felt like a preschooler in comparison to those that were already in line ahead of me age wise.

If Kwame wins it is by no means the end of the world as the doomsdayers have been saying. It just cracks me up how for 4 years I listened to McPhail go head to head against the mayor, even speculate that he tried to harm her by hot wiring her chair, then in the end give him her vote of support! Talk about a fraud. Only conclusion I can come to is Kwame has made a back room deal to get her a position on his staff.

Great thoughts, Sport. Couldn't agree more!

I'm not looking for a flame war either Matt. I just see another four years of KK as a better reason to abandon this great metropolis than most of the excuses I've heard previously. Who wants to live in a city where there's no question that your tax dollars are being misused to provide privledge to a select group of VERY corrupt politicians?

People, people, people. This city is bigger than one mayor.

What about the residents? We have a stake in this and you can make a difference - if you chose to dig-in and do so.

Yes I am talking to you!!!!!

I didn't see your asses runnin' outta here (United States) when GDub got re-elected. A far bigger detriment to someone's existence in a particular place than one mayor to one city. If you wish to leave, don't use a possible Kilpatrick re-election as an excuse.

Good riddance to you!

Head for the hills!

Beat it!

Hit 8 mile!

Head for the border!

Go west young man!

Git the F@#% on!

later - naturalsister

I think Kwame said it best last night- sure these polls are nice, but the only one that matters is the "people poll." Which won't be ending until 8 tonight.

Just got a little comic relief from Kwame on WXYZ:

"Today I want to touch as many Detroiters as I can."

I almost choked on my gum.

I voted about one hour ago. The turnout at my polling place has been extremely heavy. There were no representatives of Hendrix passing out literature altho the Mayor was well represented. I think the Mayor may pull this out.

Generally the media won't formally release exit polling information while the polls remain open.

So far here in Grosse Pointe at the nursing home, the absentee ballots that the ambassadors were kind enough to fill out for us, give Kwame a 5 ballot lead, although Jackie C. leads the pack with 34 votes.
The chap in the wheel chair next to me is having trouble with a hanging chad, but I am sure help is on the way.
Thank you, Jackie!!

I volunteered for the mayor this morning for three hours. There were no Hendrix people at my voting place either? During the primary when I worked for McPhail there were Hendrix people...wonder why?

I got strong support for the mayor and I did have people who were anti-Kilpatrick to. Seemed like a lot of youth were voting today. I was surprised at the youth turnout. Which is good for Kilpatrick!

Sport - Kilptraick has promised McPhail nothing...she has her choice of many jobs she is a U of M graduated attorney and a known strong legal mind. IF she stays and works for him it is because she wants to. Her support is said to have boosted KK between 7-10%. She let her volunteers help her make her decision. We met with both candidates...Hendrix declined to meet with the larger group of us. KK met with us - twice - and the second time was nearly 5 hours. He did a great job. Over 100 of us attended the 2nd meeting and all overwhelmingly agreed to support him. We felt Freman had nothing to offer. AND this was a room of very sharp and intelligent people of all races and backgrounds.

I hope McPhail gets something we need her intelligence and drive in this city.
