Yes, We talked about it quite a bit last summer. They even had a ground breaking for it. No progress since. Do a search for Port Authority and you'll get the scoop. |

It's been in the Riverfront plan for years. What I want to know is when will the fountain on the GM Promenade be turned on - I have yet to see it this year. (Message edited by lilpup on June 07, 2006) |

It's been on and off since at least the beginning of May. There were a bunch of kids playing in it last Saturday. It's on my short mountain bike route. It's been on about 75% of the times I've passed it in the last month or so. |

I wonder why - it was off Sunday when I was down there - is it temperature controlled or something? |

I don't think it's temperature related. It's been off on really hot days. It could be a mis-programmed timer. Or just simply mechanical issues. |

This project should go over the Ford Auditorium site, as well. Let's hope the city and the port authority talk to each other as the city goes for with the much anticipated FA demo. |

Why do you say that? The site for the dock is quite small, and is directly behind the Miller Parking Garage. |

According to a document I read which was given to me by the river front conservancy, construction is supposed to begin on the Wayne County Port Authority Building and Terminal later this year..... of course, the groundbreaking was in 2004.... Skippers Rules for such a water related occurrance??!?1 |

I also remember reading something in one the papers a while back, that the Ford Auditorium site, was going to be used for the Detroit Public Dock & Terminal, now it seems like that they are going to the site for more greenspace instead. We'll going to have to wait and see what the final plans are going to put in for that spot still, after the Ford Auditorium comes down. |

They now have a sign with a picture of the Dock & Terminal Building on the perimeter fence around the property (right at the foot of Bates). It's not a very impressive looking structure. It looks a bit like the Prentis Building (business school) on WSU's campus. |

What are the actual dock plans for this? I've seen the building renderings but nothing about dockspace is included. Or will boats tie up along the Riverwalk like they do now? I'd hate for the walk to become one huge dockspace. |

Zelda, any chance you can get a picture of the rendering? I saw a rendering from the 2004 plans, but I don't know if it's changed since then. |
