Here's my prediction: Our crime stats are down because the DPD employee responsible for compiling our crime stats screwed it all up.

For the last two weeks, DPD has refused to answer ANY 911 calls in the Cass Corridor. The Community Relations Office is looking into why this is and will get back to us.

Another poorly written article.

It dealt primarily with the rate of rise or decline of murder rates from the previous year. On that basis, even DPS can evoke praise of a rise when its education would get a bit less worse in its dropout rate (or whatever) on occasional years following exceptionally bad previous years.

I was talking with the Medical Examiner, and Homocide is significantly up this year. I'll take the ME's opinion over the DPD's.

WSU police are awesome. A friend of mine called in an incident on his cell phone and said that a car arrived before he powered-down his phone.

they also showed up quickly enough a few months ago to catch the dude that had just broken into my roomate's car red handed. (thanks to my awesome neighbor for seeing it happen and calling them in the first place as well)

what does the WSUPD have that the DPD doesn't? and further, would shifting a lot of calls on the WSUPD in light of the DPD's poor response time drag down the WSUP as well? (I hope not!)

Pay attention. The article deals with last year. This year's stats, while important to consider, don't prove last year's wrong.

I heard all those calls were just some 5 year old playing on the phone and were treated as such.

I live in the Corridor and I called 911 the other night, I didn't ask for the police to come and didn't say I needed them to, but they came and knocked on my door in about 5 minutes.
