quote:It looks like the byzantine labyrinth known as the financing of the Book Cadillac Hotel’s rebirth has hit a snag. No, really. I know it’s a shocking surprise, especially for a deal that’s fallen apart or been delayed only dozens of times before. What dismay! And consternation too!
This blog entry was posted after the signing of the BC project started. The detroitblog has always focused on vacant buildings and the negative side of Detroit development, but this entry really pissed me off. This entry goes beyond the typical snide comments and condescending attitude that permeates much of the blog. The possibility of another delay in the BC project is celebrated with the giddy excitement and joyful glee of a child on Christmas morning. I have never witnessed a person so happy about the possibility of bad news. |

i think it's called "sarcasm!" if you go through and read the archives, you'll see that the detroitblog guy actually knows his schitt about the history of these buildings, and would like nothing more than to see them return to glory, but he also seems to be a realist, IMO. how often have plans been hatched for all kinds of buildings in Detroit, and then amount to nothing? |

That's what happen what leaders talk too much!! That will NEVER get the job down. Who want to live in city where leaders just talk and do no action? People are getting sick and tired of leaders talking about this and that. I say let's recall all the leaders in Detroit city " CLOWNSIL" including KING KWAME. Millions of investment dollars went down the drain. Looks like Marriot and city got a whole lot of explaining to do to the investors about this Book-Caddilac debacle. |

I'll believe the Book-Cadillac closing when they open the doors to the first guest. |

If you don't like what the detroitblog guy posts, Erikd then start your own fukkingblog instead of pirating DetroitYes as your personal soapbox to bitch about what is considered by most Detroiters to be a Detroit Institution! Livedog2 |

Livedog2-- That flashing post is very cool, though rather unsettling. How did you do it? |

\ blink{FU!} w/o the space => You can also "nest" the tags and achieve a combo effect, such as: \ b{\ red{\ blink{FU!}}} w/o the spaces => Yes, I found the spelling error in his flash to be quite unsettling too... (Message edited by LivernoisYard on June 20, 2006) |
