I found a website with some Michigan Central pictures on it. I was flipping through them rather quickly, and one caught my eye. The picture was named "Train 15." It seems to be a human figure, but covered with some thing. This might be some thing that is always there, but I am not sure because I have never been there. Check it out to see if you know what it is. Warning I was scared, but you may not be. I am giving you the link to the first picture. Go thru them till you get to "Train 15." I hope some one has information on it.

check train11 photo. It looks like a human lying on its back with its head and neck turned to the side. Appears in the middle of the door way about 1/3 of the way up.

Looks like one of the tomb statues that comes alive in THE MUMMY. Wonder if it's a mannequin?

train7...on the right of the picture, you can see a torso dressed in black with blood on it, and a discolored hand curled up underneath!

Hey, that's me!

No, not really. My guess is that it's a would-be album cover for some local band.

I was just going to say the same thing Jennifer. My brother in law recently recorded his video at the station a few months back. That "corpse" looks like one of the ones my other brother in law makes in his spare time. I will ask him if he knows anything about it.

A group of art students held an exhibit in the building a few years ago. I can't remember which school but it may have been CCS. This is just one of a series of sculptures. I don't recall where I had seen the rest.

Hey that place looks like it could be rehabbed easily...NOT.
I'm still laughing that Kwame thought the new Police quarters could be put there.
Get Real.
Fixing up the Book Cadillac will be a hugh undertaking but this place is a total loss at this point.
It is sad to see a once fine, significant building reduced to a dump. Unfortunately, much of the city is the same way. Just look in the neighborhoods outside of downtown.

Pickle, I agree.

I wonder if the city commissioned CCS to do scarecrows for humans.

that pic is from an exhibit by WSU students 11 years ago...or was it 12 years ago...?
Fixing the building would be very expensive, but then, so would demolition. And Manny Maroun, the owner is a cheapskate.
Every time the city moves toward demolition, some phony "plan" emerges and demo is postponed.
Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Manny Maroun contributed significant amounts to both Kwame
and Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatricks war chests.

Hm, reminds me of a jaunt through the Global building one lovely morning in October '04, in Rivertown where I saw among the graffitti "Pretty Girls Make Graves"- then this year I learned it's a band from Seattle... about a year and a half passed before this was brought to my attention as a band name, but I suppose that doesn't mean they haven't been popular in Detroit for years...
