According to this article, the Dequindre cut was to be completed this past spring. I have not been down there in a few years, but has any work been done yet? http://www.modeldmedia.com/fea tures/dequindre.aspx |

No, there hasn't been any progress on the dequindre cut. They just finished the renovation of the Jefferson overpass. Hopefully work can now begin on the cut. |

For some excellent photos of the Cut and its current state (as of Late June), check out Flickr.com and search for "Dequindre Cut"--recent Flickr "safari" documented it pretty well... |

One of the delays was the Jefferson Bridge construction caused a water main break. That was repaired this spring. I do not know any status beyond that. |

Is this 'Dequindre Cut' the thing that looks like it used to be a below-grade railroad and runs along St. Aubin toward the river from Gratiot? If not, what is that thing? |

Ordinary, that's it. It goes from south of Jefferson to the northern end of Eastern Market. There have been a number of discussions about its past, present, and (hopefully) its future on the forum. Use the Search Forum feature to read more. The Model Media link provided by Blondy (see above) also gives alot of info. Welcome to the Forum. |

I second that 7milekid, let it remain in a natural state. Maybe put some trash cans down there however. Sort of an urban nature trail. |

Just explored the Dequindre Cut this Evening, took some cool pictures. As soon as I figure out how to, I will upload them on this thread. A true oasis in the middle of the city. Hope they keep it the way it is. |
