Really not a Detroit topic, but since there are a lot of great history detectives here. Has anyone used Internet search services to find people using their phone numbers? I know there are some searches that you can do and pay for each search, but I have come across a service that claims you can pay one price and search unlimited. The price seems fair but is it a scam? Anyone here of this?

You can only look up numbers if the people have a listed phone number. The pay sites to find someone with unlimited numbers aren't all that on the up and up (you get folks who USED to have that number), IMHO. These also don't work for cell phones. The time limit you have is also extremely short, like a month.

Just use WhitePages.com. It's free.

Try reversephonedirectory dot com. It's free, but only works for listed numbers and also won't work for cell.

You can just google a number and if it's listed it will come up. This is good info for people to know because it pops up with a map link to your home...which could be kind of creepy in the wrong hands.

I just tried it (no dashes or spaces) and it IS creepy! But then again, they'd have to have a phone number before they can come and break in...BUT, since you can also look up a phone number to go with an address on the white pages...glad I'm unlisted!

I'm glad too. A guy with "my name" recently changed the way his listing appears in the phone book. I know people have contacted him thinking it was me.
