There was a thread a while back about the apartments on Greenfield north of Grand River. I drove by today and saw construction crews there. The apts were all gutted, no windows, no walls. Looks like they are refurbing the whole complex. Will post more when school starts and I have more info. Just thought those interested would like an update. |

I drove by there today and noticed there has been some work being done. I also drove a little further and saw how crappy that Grand River-Greenfield intersection still looks. It's a crying shame. |

Have you driven down in that area lately? It's nice those apartments are finally being rehabbed but how many years have those buildings on Grand River and Greenfield been rotting away? I'm talking about the Wards and old Federal's buildings. That's a major eyesore and wrecks everything around there. |

On the north side of Grand River, there is a strip mall type shopping area right on Gr. River. Agan, I can never remember which store was where. On the south side (the mamouth building) there is zilch. True, it needs to be redone and utilized. IMO, the city could make better use of that big building by making it into some sort of community center (just an idea). I think the bldg is fine structurally on the outside. I have seen evidence of people being in there but no work. Maybe something is in the works. Maybe if they didn't USE it but just made it asthetically more appealing that would be a start. |

Everyone in that Greenfield Grand River area miss Baker's, Cunningham's, Ward's Federal's Meyer's and S.S. Kresge's. Now for thr Apts. on Greenfield north of Grand River Ave. Most of the structures are getting remodled after it han been abandoned and turn into crackhouses during the last 5 to 10 years. |

Danny, there have been families with kids living there for several years. It has only been abandoned in the last year or so after it was sold. |

Detroitteacher, Yes, but during that 5 to 10 year period most of buildings in the Greenfield between Fenkell and Grand River area had been vacant, partially abandoned and turned into crackhouses over the years before was sold to another onwer. Know your ghetthoods! |

Danny, I work in that neighborhood, drive through it everyday for the last 10 years. I don't see what you see. SOME houses have been vacant, a few used for immoral purposes but overall, it's NOT a bad neighborhood. When you say MOST, I think you are wrong. Lawns are maintained, for the most part, people out and about, kids playing outside. Perhaps the apts have gone through some vacancies, squatters, etc., but really, I from my observations, you are wrong. |

DT - It is best to ignore most of what Danny writes. He may occasionally say something worth reading but it is very few and far between. |

I am beginning to notice. Where he got his info from must have been some crazy dream. I stop and talk to the folks in the neighborhood (I walk around during lunch). He makes it sound like New Jack City over there!! So not true. |

Oh I do see the ghettohoods Detroitteacher, And I grew up there, too. Those ghettohoods surrounding Greenfield/Grand River and Fenkell area went from good just 40 years ago to worse when the drug dealers and crackheads came in. Most White-folks already left and black-folks came to fill the ethnic void. Most of the good stores along Grand River are long gone. And a few vacant and abandon houses were piling up. However there are some black-folks that are taking care of their property and to keep the property values up and their are some homes and apts that are in the rehab list. So you see I know and grew up in that community. That ghettohood today is still remains a ghetto due to familiar activities everyday. (Message edited by danny on July 26, 2006) |

WTF?? I grew up there, too. I work smack in the middle of it. I don't see tons of drug activity. I see more houses taken care of than not. You need to get your head out of your butt and take a good look around. Sounds like you got some wrong done to you in that neighborhood to be so negative. |

Detroitteacher, THE GHETTOMAN takes me and THE STREET PROPHETS over there all the time. He gives me a brief history of each and every Detroit ghettohood from its stores to businesses. I even tell him where I grew up. There are some drug activity in every Detroit ghetthoods, even in the suburbs. You, who worked right smack in the middle in the ghettohood, don't have to see the coke and weed comming from the house or business across the street. It's their business as long as you don't snitch. The ghettohoods of Detroit has a no snitching law you know. Even though the ghettohood that you have worked at is niece and pretty with a block club doesn't mean its safe. Drug activity takes place in every last American neighborhood, barriohoods and ghettohoods. So I do go through those areas even yours all time. (Message edited by danny on July 26, 2006) |

Danny, try READING my posts. I didn't say I live there, I work there. You also need to get "educated" not in the "ghettohoods" but in the English language. You grammar is horrid and you are misusing verbs and misusing homophones (look it up). That being said, your post makes no damned sense. Listen to yourself! I think, perhaps, you don't know what area we are talking about and are just making shit up. You sound like a scorned mistress. |

Danny - What is your point? This post is about the PROGRESS being made in the Greenfield/Grand River area and there is some to discuss. Did you miss the refacing of the buildings on Grand River East of Greenfield? Did you miss the new strip mall on Greenfield North of Grand River of the West side of the street or the relatively new Walgreens? I haven't seen the refurbishing of the apartments but that is another step in the right direction for that neighborhood. Danny - I think you belong in the Daily Hate thread. Go spew your nastiness elsewhere. We're talkin' about progress here. |

Kiplinger, I'M A STREET PROPHET for the sake of THE GHETTOMAN and a Socialist Democratic Christian. I'm for the cause for REAL TRUTH behind the LIES in this society and a FREEDOM FIGHTER for all people and not for vandalism. You didn't take time to read my post above for I recently quote that now for the Apts. on Greenfield north of Grand River Ave. Most of the structures are getting remodled after it han been abandoned and turn into crackhouses during the last 5 to 10 years. And I've quote this message: "However there are some black-folks that are taking care of their property and to keep the property values up and their are some homes and apts that are in the rehab list." Me, THE GHETTOMAN and THE STREET PROPHETS are for creating better communities and exposing corruption. We don't act like barbarians and deface every last ghettohoods, barriohoods and neighborhoods. If you don't get REAL TRUTH our to someone. Then you rather accept the LIES for other people and call it TRUTH in which the Lord doesn't like. |
