^^ I had the same problem, just a white background and the word "done" in my lower browser window border.

I can remember rushing home from my AM kindergarten class so that I could watch Soupy on our Philco b & w tv set.

I've called up three friends, and the video file worked for all three. It's a WMV file; maybe you need to update your media player.

Worked fine for me. What a classic.

Ed...do you know who the woman was in that clip and whatever happened to her, or has her identity been lost to the sands of time?

I use Mozilla Firefox, so I right-clicked on the image and then clicked on "Save link as..." to download it to my hard drive for viewing.

From Soupy's nightclub act-
Three old ladies named Gertrude, Maude and Tillie were sitting on a park bench, having a quiet conversation, when a flasher approached from across the park. The flasher came up to the ladies, stood right in front of them, and opened his trench coat.
Gertrude immediately had a stroke.
Then Maude also had a stroke.
But Tillie wouldn't touch it.

Just got back from Best Buy and they are selling a DVD Soupy Sales collection. Didn't know it was out. Thought some may be interested in that news.

Jjw,
The Soupy Sales DVDs that are out there are from the 1979 syndicated "New Soupy Sales Show." Not his best stuff, but better than nothing. Only a couple of his Detroit shows have survived. In the early days the shows were done live. When videotape came in, the tapes were reused over and over again until they wore out, then they were tossed.

Being a TV director for the Quartermaster Corps at Fort Lee, VA back in 1968, I did some production, but mostly we edited those 51mm video tapes with five of those "quad" monsters (by today's standards). We happened also to have a copy of that 1962 video, but we made sure that no women were around when viewing it. [It was still mostly a man's world in TV production back then.]

It was called "Dancing Ivories," written by Henry Jerome, a pseudonym for composer Al Mortimer.

Gistok,
That was Johnny Ginger's sign off.

Catman_dude,
Soupy is alive, but in pretty poor health. He turned 80 in January.

I heard he is confined to a wheelchair.
Seems strange like seeing your parents get old and feeble.
Still, what a funny guy. I saw him at Marlowes and the Royal Oak Music theatre back in the 80's and he was damn funny.

Soupy lives in a rent-controlled apartment in New York City. I've had dinner with him and his beautiful wife Trudy a couple of times and I hung out with him the last time he was in town. Unfortunately Soupy is in such poor health that he is unable to correspond anymore.

I'm really saddened to hear about Soupy. I hope he knows how much he's loved.

Ed, those one or two episodes of the original Soupy show - are they or will they 'be available'?

Jimg,
The Detroit episodes that exist probably will never see an official video release. The A&E Biography that was done a few years ago has some Detroit Soupy footage. It's available on VHS and can be ordered thru Amazon.com .

I get a small percentage of anything you buy from Amazon if you enter thru my webite and order from there. Just click on anything from my store. Once you're in, look around and spend lots of money!

Is it just me or does Mel Gibson bear a striking resemblance to Soupy Sales?

After Mel's little incident a couple of days ago, you'd better stick a fork in him because he's DONE.
