Today I downloaded Google Earth 4.0 for my mac and searched for detroit... I noticed a new option since last using the program (v.3.0) and this new option was "show 3d models of buildings." My dear Detroityes friends! I seems the folks at Google.com have RENDERED the entire CBD and then some in 3D! It's amazing. I suggest you all try it out. Mind you, the models do not have textures (meaning they are all white) however, it is AMAZING. look it up if you have the PC fire power... ... seen it in action? what do you think of it? |

Hey, I've posted this in a few other threads, but another interesting view is in MSN Virtual Earth... if you zoom in close enough to the CBD, they have Pictometry (tm) oblique aerials that you can view from 4 different angles... real detailed stuff! Just zoom all the way in and chose 'bird's eye' option instead of 'road' or 'aerial'. |

Google Earth has a two-year old shot of my present location, and it shows my subdivision as barren desert with about twenty earth-movers lined up. Hope they update some day! That said, it is an amazing program. |

"Google earth has had this for maybe 8 months now. Seriously...hate to burst your bubble." Actually I got that in july of last year, so its been over a year. And I think he meant Compuware isn't finished. |
