Hi all.
I have been fighting the city of Detroit's tax department since I moved back to the D in 2003. Although they claim I am exempt, I am still being charged at the non-exempt rate of 73mil instead of 55 mil. How can I get this issue resolved? I been down to the CAY bldg so many times that I know some of the girls down there on a personal name basis.

All I can say is good luck. Folks aren't very nice down there, especially the assesor which I had the misfourune of speaking with once. You might have to get a lawyer, one that specialized in real estate law. As sad as this sounds, it might save you quite a bit of dough in the long run. I couldn't imagine paying non-homestead property taxes!
