We all have been talking about citizen Patrols and there effectiveness if police are present. Is this the answer or maybe call stations to police every three to four hundred yards or so like the river walk? I think nothing will work without good planning, something the city often lacks. We all care about our communities and do not want to walk around scared. IF we had a large anti crime rally with workshops on how to start successful Patrols and sign ups from all communities wanting to participate wouldn't that also send a message to the city government about how serious an issue we think it is to address.(not that I trust city government to take initiative but it is definitely worth a shot.) Just wondering peoples thoughts.

Channel 4 News has become the next " thought police" against fugitive criminals and the plan is working pefectly. So for 3 out of 4 Michigan's Most Wanted criminals had been caught thanks to your quick tips.

That is a good idea Urbanoutdoors(ignore Danny).

Of course I don't live in Detroit so I am speaking as an outsider. But until and when and if the people really get pissed I don't see much changing.

Although the rallies show unity I just don't get the idea behind them. They just don't seem to do any good. The police need to be present and able to do their jobs and kick some ass.

There are some active citizens patrols in the city already... Warrendale and Elmwood/Lafayette Park area are a couple that I know of offhand. We need more of them, though.

Unfortunately when the police do their jobs, the citizens complain they are hurting the criminals.
