What's up with Como's? Are they coming Downtown? I heard a while back that they bought 1550 Woodward. |

There was a flurry of work done on that building a few months ago. Then it just stopped. Nothing visible has been done since. |

They are not coming until they see more activity happening downtown. They've been saying for 5 years now about coming down. When Woodward gets more bars/restaurants/shopping, then Comos will come. Can't blame them from a business standpoint, but somebody has to be the pioneers. |

Gotta agree. Ate once at Comos after hearing all of this hoopla about the good food. I left unimpressed. |

They make a great greasy pizza with a burnt crust. If that's your thing, go for it. It's sorta like Red Devil's pizza. How many pizza places are downtown anyways? |

I don't much care for Como's pizza; but I'd go along if it were a group choice. I'd never choose it on my own. The last time I was there, perhaps 5 years or so ago, I had an ascetically unappetizing experience. An older woman was there in my line of sight with a number of young children. My problem was that she had no teeth and had to gum her pizza. And then, even worse, she smoked a cigarette. It was similar to driving by an auto accident on the side of the road: I found myself unable to not look. I still shutter at the image of grandma gumming that cigarette. |

I would rather see Shield's come back to Detroit with a downtown location. Then Buddy's can open a downtown location followed by Cloverleaf. Then we'll have PizzaTown. |

Is the little Caesar's in the Millender Center still open? Living downtown, I'm amazed at the lack of pizza coupons I get in the mail. Mostly from Cottage Inn. |

Tell me this isn't going to turn into a 'hate Como's' thread. I have eaten there once or twice years ago and the food/service were very good. I would be very, very happy if one opened downtown. If they do, great. If they don't it doesn't take anything away from their current place. |

They own the building and started to do some work. I highly doubt that they are going to bail. I love Danny's comment that decries them for not opening up downtown when the facts are not known. Maybe they need more money? or the business model is bad, or.. I am sure they have their reasons why work is not happening. To everyone who criticizes business owners and building owners, could you run a better business or own a building that does not have a lot of traffic and does not bring in enough money to sustain itself? |

Como's was charging $3 at the door, so I wanted to talk to the manager. I told him I would rather pay $1 extra per slice of pizza. Only then did he tell me the $3 goes towards the band. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I don't like carrying cash either and they told me that readjusting my female friend's breast while eating dinner would not be tolerated and that I'd be asked to leave if I did it again. |

Rjlj, Como's from their original restuarant in Downtown Gaydale is doing a excellent business, even down to a middle of the night serving homosexual couples. They have plenty of money to pay off their bills and invoices. They don't have the proposals to negotiate with the construction company set a date to complete the new restuarant in Downtown Detroit. Until it happen that incomplete building on Woodward Ave. stays as is. |

Gambling_man, Yes, the Little Ceasars is still opened, and it also serves as a Mr. Pita. However, it opens for lunch and closes at 5:30 or 6 after everyone from the RenCen empties out... |

Admittedly their location is only good to those who work in the adjacent buildings. I still think a late-night pizza joint that serves wood-fired, wine and beer, and pizza by the slice (not the 30-45 minute wait at Pizzapapalis)(Something akin to Uno in Chicago) would do well downtown. |

Drm, Those words that I have just posted was not a violation within the forum's "Conditions for participation". Codespeak is all LEGAL in the forum as long it doesn't offend anyone. For example: I put the word "homosexual and Gay" but not the word "queer". And take Rasputin for example, in his codespeak, He put the words " white supremacy" not "cracker or peckerwood" Most of folks put KKKarl down for you claimed that he's a supporter of Bush and Hitler. Now is that offense to Karl or is it just codespeak? You decide. |
