Here's a cool contest that I ran across: create your own Faygo flavor for Faygo's 100th birthday. Details at: http://faygo.com/ |

It comes to my mind, as Carnac the Magnificent said before Jay Leno's era, that one of our reliable, beloved posters will propose adding anise to Faygo to create a licorice flavor called . . . . . . Faygo Black-atcha |

I just want to see the spot with "The Faygo Song" one last time. I liked it better than the "Give the World a Coke" spot, sappy though it was. |

Faygo has been part of National Beverage since 1987. You should be happy you just found out now, rather than spend the last 20 years disappointed. |

I dont thin the NBC is doing a good job with the production of their pops. Faygo really went downhill after NBC brought the company. My mother told me it doesnt taste the same now like it used to. I noticed that too. Its suppose to be pop and pop is suppose to have fizz. Well this is the last pop brand to choose for fizzy pop. Also, NBC is trying to change the well known local name of the pop from POP to COLA!!!!!!! NO!!!!!! Plus, for the misunderstanders, I mean their COLA is FLAT! One thing I hate is falt COLA. I'll stick to the other local favorite Vernors. Vernors never goes flat. (Message edited by Dtown1 on August 28, 2006) |

It doesn't taste the same because of HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, the poison that has largely replaced cane sugar as our national sweetener. Each word in that term is its own link to the first four items that appear in google. The first one details the science of this shit, explaining HOW it is made along with some background on its development. The second, a fantastic paper on the health effects. The third, a Washington Post article that tells the whole sordid tale. Finally, the last is Wikipedia's page on this bane to western civilization. Eliminate it from your diet and make grocery shopping a MUCH easier task. You have roughly seven things in an entire Meijer Thrifty Acres, outside the vegetable and fruit aisles, that you can choose from. HERE'S a great idea for Faygo's 100-year anniversary...eliminate this chemical from their list of ingredients. Go back to their ORIGINAL recipes, and help reverse the trend in ill health of the masses. Cheers! Happy eating and drinking... (edited to correct one of the links) (and again to fix one grammar and one spelling error, I get so-o angry about this crap I can barely type) (Message edited by Gannon on August 29, 2006) (Message edited by Gannon on August 29, 2006) |

Pdtpuck, Caffeine is our LAST legal drug. We should ALL support its continued delivery, unhindered and relatively untaxed. I shudder to think what would happen to Corporate America now that the trial lawyers have already nailed the other deep-pocketed old-world staples...as I think they ONLY went after tobacco because its been an established industry since before our country was founded. Never know, but my bet is someone has their eye on the coffee industry pockets... My comments still stand, if they eliminate high fructose corn syrup...I'LL start drinking soda again. It killed me that Jolt Cola dropped half their original mission statement...'All the Sugar and Twice the Caffeine'...a decade ago. That was the last soda I could drink. 'Diet' sweeteners are worse than HFCS. An old buddy who was a pilot for Northwest Airlines once told me that pilots were restricted from consuming Aspartame, due to the short-term memory loss. Of course, they've been telling us that about cannabis forever, too. Whatever...can't say I didn't tell you so on the High Fructose Corn Syrup, though. |

Right on Gannon! Pop just ain't pop without the sugar. Nothing like that pop with sugar. Get rid of that high fructose corn syrup. To heck with Archer Daniels and all those bozos! Bring back the sugar! I think I'm coming down from a high fructose corn syrup buzz. Pdtpuck, just try and find something sweet at the grocery store without high fructose corn syrup in it. |

I like Gannon's idea...give us back our sugar. Meanwhile, drink Detroit Water, or if you want something fizzy, Topo Chico, available all over SW Detroit. If brown pop is more your style: Motor City Brewing Works has a fine line of products. |

Rhymeswithrawk: Yes. I used to have the 45 as well. Must have been shaken out in a move, sadly. That song is chock-full of every pre-Nintendo childhood cliche you can think of. Here it is with the Faygo lyrics (I think the disc had more neutral lyrics.) Comic books and rubber bands Climb into the tree top Falling down and holding hands Tricycles and redpop Pony rides and Sunday nights Roller skates and snowball fights Climbin' through the window Remember when you were a kid? Well, part of you still is And that's why we make Faygo Faygo remembers Flying kites and funny shoes Easter eggs with speckles ABCs and counting by twos Washing off the freckles Kissing a hurt to make it stop Startin' school in September So many things you almost forgot Tryin' to remember Remember when you were a kid? Well, part of you still is And that's why we make Faygo Faygo remembers |

Is it true that Faygo went out of business for some time, only to rebound back into business with its leftover stock that never got sold. Anybody know anything about that? |

Faygo: Sacrament for Insane Clown Posse. All you juggaloos and juggalettes get down with this. Liquid sugar, whether High Fructose Corn Surup or cane sugar is one of the worst things ever created. All that corn belongs in our gas tanks, or sprayed all over everything at an ICP "concert". |

LOL, Jfried, man...you nailed it. Sumo, The difference chemically, and how the body either processses it or simply stores it directly as fat is VERY different. But give me honey or maple sugar any day...or a properly ripened fruit of ANY sort...and I'll be much happier. |

guys, guys, guys.... IT WAS A JOKE! (about Gannon's caffiene intake!) Caffiene is my personal drug of choice these days, having given up all of my other (illegal) vices! I probably drink WAY too much soda, anyway, along with the coffee!!! |

Detroit Histroical museum has a display for the advertising company in Detroit, can't recall the name, but you can push a button and watch the Faygo commercial with the Faygo song, damn near brought tears to my eyes seeing it again after all those years, but I was snapped out of it by my 12 yo saying "come on Dad, I'm bored, let's go!" |
