I went regularly from '97 through 2000 when my nephew was on the team. It's a good way to spend a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. |

On problem they had in recruiting players was due to the field. The field was in horrible shape for years and years. They finally got a field turf field this year and they've greatly upgraded the stands as well. Should help the recuiting efforts. |

I've never been but it seems like it would be entertaining. How much does it cost to get in? |

Hopefully with the new staff WSU can finally turn it around. There are some advantages that work in its favor. One is location there is a lot of talent in the Metro Detroit area. Not everyone can go Div 1-A. The GLIAC is one of the best if not the best Div 2 conferences in the country for football. No college football competition in the city of Detroit. WSU football could be a hidden jewel if money is put into the program and it was marketed right. |

Being the GLIAC is a problem, not a plus for Wayne State. 4 Top 25 teams and GVSU and SVSU are 1 and 2 respectively. That's a tough nut to crack. |

WSU Football Home Opener This Saturday at 12:00 Wayne State football entertainment goes retro this Saturday. You will not want to miss a pre-game concert starting at 11:15 a.m. with Detroit's funkiest dance band "Boogie Dynomite." It will be a "Disco Inferno" at Adams Field this Saturday! Tickets are only $5.00 and parking is free. WSU students receive free admission with their OneCard. |

Umstucoach- I agree that the conference is tough but it can serve to help WSU in the sense that it can make WSU step up its recruiting and go after some of these good HS football players in Metro Detroit who might be a step slow or a few inches short(otherwise fine football players)who the D-1A and D-1AA schools will ignore. Being in a tough conference like the GLIAC you can almost guarantee that you will go deep into the D-2 playoffs if you can get into it. |

Good win over the weekend. Made it the first game. The new field looks great. "The Wayne State University football team (2-1 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) has begun its league schedule 2-0 for the first time since 1980 with a come-from-behind 35-31 victory over visiting Mercyhurst College Saturday afternoon during Tartar/Warriors Day at Adams Field." |

Wayne State University’s 2006 Warrior Homecoming Parade will be the biggest in Detroit history. The expanded parade, starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 14, will feature more than 100 floats, marching bands, artists and vehicles, among other participants. Following the parade at noon, a record crowd of more than 6,000 spectators are expected to attend Wayne State’s football game against Hillsdale on the newly resurfaced Tom Adams Field. One draw is a top Homecoming raffle prize. Wayne State is giving one current student a free year of WSU tuition (32 credits, a $7,200 value). WSU employees, alumni and the general public also have designated prizes to win, each valued at $250. To win, entrants must register for the raffle at Parade Central on Anthony Wayne Drive near Starbucks. Other student prizes are • an Apple Computer laptop and iPod Nano 2G (a $1,500 value) • a trip for two to an out-of-state WSU hockey game (a $500 value) • a $250 Barnes & Noble gift card • a $250 gas card To grasp the parade’s magnitude, consider the local media coverage. Comcast is broadcasting the unprecedented 1.1-mile parade, which begins at Second Avenue and Palmer, with a six-camera crew and commentary from announcers Cliff Russell, Detroit Public TV, and Dayna Clark, WJR 760-AM. Two billboards along I-94 boast, “Come for the Parade, Stay for the Game.” And parade participants WJLB, WHDT, CIMX, WDRQ, WDET, WKRK, WRIF, WKQI, CIDR, WJR and WWJ are promoting the parade on the air with radio spots. “This is the most exciting homecoming in WSU history,” said David Strauss, dean of students and parade co-chair. “Never before have we had a parade of this magnitude or a crowd of students, employees, alumni and metro Detroiters who were more enthusiastic about our university and the future of our city.” The parade will feature the reigning Miss Michigan, Angela Corsi, local marching bands, a Detroit Fire Department truck, team of motorcycle stunt artists called “All Odds Beaten,” and student and employee floats. There is an also a “Family Fun Zone,” which includes inflatable games, face-painting, and various arts and crafts activities for children of all ages, which will be open 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Adams Field (southeast corner of stadium). Visit homecoming.wayne.edu for more information. To view the schedule of Homecoming week, visit http://www.homecoming.wayne.ed u/Events.htm. |
