I heard there is a 12-year tax abatement program for people who buy their first house in Detroit. I closed on my first house, in Detroit, in July. How do I apply for this abatement?

I also live in one of em "enterprize zones". How do I apply for my tax credit there?

I'm assuming you are buying a non-new non-major rehab home. The 12 year tax abatement is the neighborhood enterprise zone. I don't know of any program for first time buyers.

The NEZ's were just expanded to include existing non-rehab homes. No one knows how to apply for it yet, since it's a new program.
