I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. It's time for the Dally in the Alley '06: the Cass Corridor's good bye to warmth & fetivals festival. [Taking place today, 9/9/06] While sometimes it seems like there are too many people at the Dally, I always have a great time, and buy some hard-to-find books/records from the vendors. Here's the music schedule: http://www.dallyinthealley.com /music.html (Message edited by spaceboykelly on September 09, 2006) |

Like one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes where SueEllen Mischke, the O'Henry Candy Bar Heiress, invites Elaine to her wedding in India three days before the wedding (I call those unvitations). Elaine says, "She doesn't want me there? I'll show her...I'm gonna show up with a bunch of my idiot friends..." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Betrayal_(Seinfeld_episode) Sorry for the thread piracy |

If it rains hard enough, that means Dally tomorrow. Crossed fingers. I'm ready NOW! |

I just heard that it started at 11:00 and was slowed down by rain but is still supposed to happen. I'm surprised. It seems like it will probably rain most of the day but I am heading down around 4:00, can't miss the Dally... must do the Dally... |

The Dally is still going, and it keeps raining off and on. According to Weather.com the rain should stop in a few hours. |

Plenty of dallying to be had down here; I'm going between classes. This is the first day of my insane new WSU schedule, where I have classes on Saturdays from 8:30 - 6:00. Wish the Dally was here every week. |

Leavin' the burbs for the Dally in about an hour. A little rain won't put a damper, hell it might even spice it up a bit. |

I love Dally and all, but Tigers vs Twins AND #1 vs #2 in college football...are you kidding me? Does it get any better than that? Looks like I'll have to wait till next year for Dally. |

It was marvelous. I got there very late but the spirit seemed strong. The Layabouts were on fire! I spied Lowell in the crowd but couldn't get at him. There was some crime, a Dally first. A large group of young jerks were barreling through the crowd, knocking people aside then stealing purses or picking pockets. They were caught pretty quickly, but a couple friends of mine were nearly victims (the fools were not very good at it, they got very little booty but shook people up). Once security go them, everyone relaxed and moved on. |

Yeah, I was in a scuffle with probably those same jerks. They pushed a guy passing by who dumped his beer. He asked them to at least say, "I'm sorry" - then all hell broke lose and about 15 "homies" descended on the guy. My gal and I were stuck, squished into a crowd of people trying to get away from what could of escalated to something really unpleasant. Had crack whores/homeless grabbing my beer and being really pushy. Worst I've ever seen. They were actually following me around and wouldn't let up until I threatened to kick their teeth in. Screw that neighborhood party. I'm sticking with 4th Street. |

I had a good time as usual, but I have to say the musical selections this year were slim to none. The music is typically the main attraction for me, but I resorted to drinking and socializing (which is the other main attraction) and stayed away from the stages, especially the Alley Stage, which was just flat out disappointing. Kudos to the Beggars, Salt Miners, and Brothers Groove. That's about all I enjoyed musically. |

I caught a little of Blackman...I just LOVE his guitar styling...but caught such a bad vibe wandering around that I had to escape before too long. It was a weird full-moon time for my FIRST Dally...dunno if I'll go back, either. Nothing at ALL like what I'd been sold on...I guess that is the backside of the double-edge of expectations. |

I was there when the scuffle happened apparently but not in the area of the scuffle. We had a blast...I LOVE Dally and think it's a great event...will go back again year after year. |

http://goodfelloweb.com/layabo uts/ There was less money for more bands this year, but don't sell the Dally short. Plus they got on the jerks pretty quickly. Kudos. |
