A great opportunity to come out and explore the Lafayette Park Community!!

Canine To Five: Detroit Dog Daycare
Sponsors Dog Parade in Detroit’s Historic Lafayette Park
Saturday, September 16, 2006 ~ 10:00 a.m.

When famed modernist architect Mies van de Rohe designed Detroit’s Lafayette Park fifty years ago, he envisioned a neighborhood that empty nesters, families and singles could all call home. It seems fitting then, at the 50th anniversary celebration of his remarkably sustainable development, that a dog parade would be included to celebrate the true livability of this planned community.

As a component of Lafayette Park’s 50th Anniversary Picnic on Saturday, September 16, 2006, Canine to Five: Detroit Dog Daycare will sponsor a dog parade at 10:00 a.m. Canine to Five is Detroit’s only dog daycare and cage-free boarding facility, and also offers a full-service grooming salon to its clients.

The dog parade is open to any leashed canine and is free of charge. All dog owners are encouraged to creatively costume their dog for the 45-minute walk through the picturesque Lafayette Park. The meet-up location is just north of Chrysler Elementary and west of the two iconic Lafayette Tower apartment buildings. As an added bonus, Canine to Five will provide doggie treats, cool-down pools, and complimentary photos for the parade participants.

The entire Lafayette Park community will be alive all day with activities for Canine to Five’s human friends. From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., there will be children’s activities, with other special events scheduled such as a bike-decorating parade, performances from the Mosaic Youth Theatre singers and the Charles Prophet Jazz Band, line dancing, an appearance from Bozo the Clown and a basketball game that will pit the Detroit Fire and Police Departments against each other.
