The parking garage and apartment building are pretty much completely gone. On Sunday, it looked like perhaps a few more pieces of the garage's foundation around the middle were all that was left. |

It sure sucks to loose my parking structure in Greektown. I used to be able to acctually park inside before the casino opened. By the way, why did they tear down my other parking structure downtown? The one across from City Club on Bagley. Now it appears to be a gravel parking lot. GRRRRRRRRRR!!! |

Did the one on Bagley sit boarded up for a while? If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was torn down before it could fall down. It was for sale "as is" in need of serious work. The work was more than the structure was worth. |

I thought maybe MGM was going to use the land for their new casino. The last time I saw the stucture, it did seem pretty old though. I had some fond memories of drinking in there (with a large group of friends)before going into City Club in the days before I was of legal drinking age.(he he he!) |

The first and Bagley garage was a piece of schitt. Lights never worked and there were pipes hanging from the ceiling a bad combination. I was driving through there once and I had a pipe smash into my windshield and along the roof of my car. Thank god it only gouged the paint. Didn't see the hanging pipe until it hit my car. Not to mention all of the stairwells smelled of piss and often were layered in vomit, made for a great game of "dodge the puke". |

Lmichigan: Yes I do. However, my agreement with the casinos is that I cannot display them for two months. |

I'm not surprised, Don. I've been in sporadic email correspondance with MotorCity and MGM for some architectural research, and they are VERY tight-lipped about their plans. I guess they are trying to "one-up" the other. When was the Greektown aerial taken? |

I believe the buildings to the right are a junvenile detention center. I'm certain it is a detention center. The white building in the upper right hand corner is also a detention center. Notice the very narrow windows! |

Lmichigan: Today. Yes, they are trying to one up each other. It's been a big race for the past two years. |

Thanks Don, and welcome to the Forum (I hadn't seen a post by you yet, so a belated welcome!) The fact that they are trying to one up each other is one of the positives about the final casino plans. The one-ups-manship is a win-win for the city! First MGM announce that they were spending $550 million, then it was upped to $750 million. Well what if they were fibbing? ... and they are spending even more!! I'm hoping for a (secret) over-the-top lavish interior worthy of the Las Vegas Strip! So they can match up to our opulent downtown movie palaces... and leave patrons awestruck! |

They were assembling two cranes when I went by last night. I think it's safe to say that construction is about to begin!! |

Huh? I'm confused. Were you taking photos for them? If not you can take, and post, whatever photos you want from public space. I think flying by qualifies as public space. |

Maybe he is taking photos for the casinos. Part of his contract may stipulate that he is not allowed to publish photographs that he has taken under contract for that company. |

Let's say that a camera-man was under contract with CNN to "exclusively" do news for CNN. If he took that tape and sold it to MSNBC, that could therefore be a violation of the "exclusive" nature of his contract with CNN. |
