Yeah, I'm being pessimistic. These guys look like hell. It was that the hell was the exception, now its the rule. Getting raped again tonight. Win the series opener, lose the rest. The longer this goes, the more convinced it isn't a "slump", they're just suckin plain and simple. Grand effort. Better than expected. They'll make the playoffs, but I just don't see anything that tells me they have a chance of winning much. I'm sure this will kick up some dust.... |

I think its a Detroit thing to start getting pessimistic and lose confidence once we start looking bad. Its that errie hush at the Joe, when the wings fall behind in a game. Its that need to be underdogs as Pistons. Chin up Jerome |

Hahaha. I try. Problem this isn't just one game. This is the past month +, with no real signs of anything changing. |

That or the fact that they've scared everybody to death because they've played like rotten ass for the past month+. I don't think it would what city you're in, if a team goes through a stretch like they are, it'll put the fans into a panic, They're playing less than .333 ball. That's worse than what the Royals have been playing at for most of the season. |

Jerome, in the established, set-in-stone DetroitYes custom of immediately jumping on people who enter their post in a non-correct spot, let me point out that your post should be in the Tiger Talk sub-thread of the Detroit Sports thread. The board has had a meeting, and you are hereby non-officially censured for your grievous mis-placement. We have also decided that, due to your aggressively pessimistic viewpoint as regards the Tigers, yer fulla shit. (Message edited by Ravine on September 13, 2006) |

Okay. Is that 6 homers for Texas tonight? And they just said the Tigers haven't won 2 in a row since August 22. If that isn't bad, explain to me what is. I'll let it rest awhile |

Jerome, you know I'm just playing. Everybody has done it, including me. We're just obligated to get snotty about it, because we're obnoxious, know-it-all, mean-spirited pains in the ass. Oh wait. That's me I'm talking about. |

Maybe they saw what happened to the Pistons, and the Wings, and just don't want to be in first place going into the playoffs. |

Wait a minute. I'm not as old as some folks around here, but let's just say that the Lions have been champs during my lifetime. I have seen a lot of baseball. Everybody experiences slumps. I suppose that some teams have gone wire-to-wire without having one, but none come to mind. The White Sox, last season, pretty much ran the table, but near the end, even they were nearly overtaken by the disappointed, angry Indians, and this is a good time to mention that Ozzie Guillen, and many other people (including me,) felt that it was the near-death experience with Cleveland that stimulated the energy which carried them through the post-season. You don't get to choose when the slump occurs. Late Aug-Early Sep is a bad time for one, but even with that happening, tomorrow will be September 14th, and the Tigers are in First Place. The only really important thing about First Place is who's there at the end, but it is more likely to be Us than it is likely for it to be Them. Cheers! |

Tonight's Oriole pitcher does not blow. He's a highly-rated prospect, in fact. His ERA is outrageous because his first outing was a disaster. |

SS: I'm in favor of letting this ill-begotten thread die. This is my last post on it. I recommend that we all continue our rants on the Tiger Talk thread, and let this one sink to the bottom of the pile. I'm tired of seeing "Tigers Are Done" in the thread-list. |

I'll say this. They'll make the playoffs for sure (as I said). I'm still doubtful they can beat a time like the Twins or Yankees. Though it is nice to see the offense has finally woken up. Hopefully the turmoil in the Yankee clubhouse hurts em a bit. |

I stopped going to motownsports.com because of all the pessimism. As I have said before on other sites, THIS IS NOT THE LIONS!!! Anything is possible and people should really be enjoying what this team has brought to the city this year. I live in Europe but was back recently and saw the Guillen walkoff homer game. Baseball is a strange sport where the best overall team rarely win the championship. You need great pitching and timely hitting to win in the playoffs. If they get teh second part, anything is possible. GO TIGERS! |
