Michigansheik, if you are looking for a very good Chinese restaurant, I recommend Wah Court. The decor is plain, the food is consistantly well prepared. |

Help me out with this one -- there use to be a great restaurant in Windsor called Auberge de la Bastile or something close to that. Is it still in operation in downtown Windsor? Livedog2 |

Yes Livedog there was. No it's closed. MS, if you like Thai, Basil Court on Ouellette Ave. cannot be beat. |

That's too bad, Andrew because the Auberge was more than a restaurant; it was a destination. We use to take our out-of-town guests there when they came in for a visit. It was always fun for our friends that came from farther in the interior of the U.S. for us to take them to dinner in a foriegn country (Canada) so to speak. It seems to me that a woman owned the Auberge but I can't remember for sure. Livedog2 |

Note: Windsor is so compact that your dining options can extend beyond downtown very easily Unbiased best eating spots (I didn't get my figure from Jenny Craig!) Vietnamese- Pho Xic-Lo, Wyandotte @ Campbell Chinese BBQ- Sun Hong, Wyandotte near Partington- so authentic, you can't drink the water! Lebanese: El Mayor- Wyandotte @ Parent- go for the killer appie platter and the swarma samies- the foodies always order the kibbie Upmarket Fun: Bamboo, Art Gallery of Windsor (east meets west fusion, new tapas cocktail hour at 5pm) Classic Windsor upmarket- Plunketts- Chatham near Ouellette- 27 years and counting... Pub Grub- Kildare House, Wyandotte at Kildare- Friday fish day is Kildare tradition Erie Street Italian: La Zingara, between Marentette and Louis- their pizzas are the mouth-watering chow down! |

Follow up to Auberge question: It was founded by Kurt Deeg who also ran Ye Olde Steak House- it is now called "Chatham Street Grill", the food is wonderful if money is no object- for old timers who remember L' Auberge de la Bastille, Chatham Street's decor is quite different... and yet the building, which once housed the Union Gas Company, remains a downtown Windsor classic.... |

Anyone been to Tunnel BBQ recently? Used to go there but haven't been in a while. How is it? Still good. I love their TBQ Sweet Sauce, one of the best sauces around. |

MamO, a little further out on Wyandotte, is one of the best little restaurants in the entire region. About 10 tables. Everything is made fresh everyday. Bistro-esque in a small little storefront. And for a modest corkage fee, you can bring your own wine -- and this is food that reallys calls for a good wine pairing. A great date place. |

I've heard good things about MamO as well. It's in the heart of my old neighbourhood but haven't got around to trying it yet. Windsor has awesome restaurants, blows London away that's for sure. |

We recently had a wonderful dinner at La Scala on Erie Street. We've also eaten at the Wah Court numerous times and have never been disappointed. Also at Harvey Lo's. |

How about a restaurant in Stratford, Ontario that was in an old converted church. Was it called Christians? If it is still there how is the food these days? The ambience was great and the food was the same many years ago! Livedog2 |

As of a few years ago it was still in existence. Stratford's restaurants are soe of teh best within a 5 hour drive due to the prestigious chef school they have there. I have never been disappointed by any of the food served in that city. Even the "pub grub" is above all the rest. Such as a pumpkin soup...absolutely fantastic! |
