I meant to post this the other day after I got back from the DSO. We were walking back to Symphony Hall from Union Street and noticed a pair of "members only, no trespassing" signs over the doorway of a building about a block north of Symphony Hall on the west side of Woodward. The building looked pretty nondescript and in some disrepair. The only identifying mark I saw anywhere on the building was a T enclosed in a circle on the "Members Only" sign. I'm pretty sure it was a T anyway. Pretty vague, I know, but any ideas what this mystery spot is/was? |

No, it was the Mozart vs. Salieri concert. Pretty good, not their best performance though. The clarinet soloist was likely the best I've ever heard. Not to threadjack my own thread, but I'm pretty disappointed in their concert selections this season. Last season's was pretty solid, and the season before that's performance of Carmina Burana was epic. Wonder what gives? |

I've had my eye on this place for awhile? How does a college kid find his way in? aw9789@wayne.edu (Message edited by Traxus on September 24, 2006) |

This building is the Garden Theater, originally opened in 1912. There was an announcement to renovate the theater and redevelop the entire block in 2004, but that project seems to have fallen through. |

Rugbyman, Yeah, I agree with you about this season. I had season tickets last time and really enjoyed every concert--but I didn't even bother renewing my subscription for this season. I MIGHT see John Adams' violin concerto, but probably nothing else. |
